China Southern Airlines Cargo has strengthened its presence in Europe with the launch of a new direct cargo-capable service between Madrid and Guangzhou, supported by a general sales agent (GSA) partnership with Global GSA Group. The development follows the appointment of Mondial Airline Services Spain, a subsidiary of Global GSA Group, as the airline’s official cargo representative in Spain.
Since 2 December 2025, China Southern Airlines has been operating a Boeing 787-9 service three times weekly between Madrid and Guangzhou, introducing new bellyhold cargo capacity on the Spain–southern China trade lane. The route represents China Southern Airlines Cargo’s first scheduled widebody operation into the Spanish market and provides a direct air bridge between Spain and one of China’s most important cargo hubs.
Under the agreement, Mondial Airline Services Spain is responsible for the airline’s commercial activities, customer engagement and operational coordination in Spain. Acting as an extension of China Southern Airlines Cargo, the local team is supporting both the initial route launch and the longer-term development of the market by aligning local demand with the carrier’s global network strategy.
The inaugural flight carried a combination of general cargo and temperature-sensitive shipments, reflecting strong early demand across key commodity segments. Operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the service offers direct connectivity to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, with onward links across mainland China, Asia, Australia and New Zealand through China Southern Airlines’ wider network.
China Southern Airlines Cargo is accepting bookings for general cargo, time-sensitive shipments and specialised products, including pharmaceuticals and seafood exports from Spain. Each Boeing 787-9 flight provides an average payload capacity of approximately 15 tonnes and 80 cubic metres, supporting regular export and import flows while enhancing onward connectivity beyond Guangzhou.
