In an exciting development for the future of air transportation, Eve Air Mobility and UI Helicopter have announced a strategic partnership aimed at advancing Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in South Korea. The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on building the necessary infrastructure, technical expertise, and operational capabilities to support the nation’s growing AAM sector.

Eve Air Mobility, a leading player in the global AAM space, and UI Helicopter, South Korea’s premier helicopter operator and maintenance provider, are combining their strengths to help South Korea unlock the potential of electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) technology. Together, they aim to create a comprehensive AAM ecosystem, with a focus on both urban and rural areas of the country.

“Advanced air mobility has the power to reshape global transportation, particularly in urban centers where the demand for more efficient, sustainable mobility solutions is increasing,” said Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve. “We are thrilled to partner with UI Helicopter to share our technical resources and help South Korea develop a strong foundation for AAM.”

UI Helicopter’s CEO, Sungwieh Albert Rim, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of South Korea’s proactive approach to Urban Air Mobility (UAM). “South Korea has already taken significant steps to lay the groundwork for UAM, and with this collaboration, we aim to ensure that AAM can thrive sustainably in the country. Our established relationships with South Korean policymakers will help drive the success of this partnership.”

The collaboration will begin with a market survey from Eve to gather initial data, which will be crucial in shaping the next steps for AAM in South Korea. This follows the government’s efforts through the K-UAM Grand Challenge, a key initiative designed to advance UAM in the country. Beyond Seoul, there are significant opportunities to expand AAM into South Korea’s rural regions, improving connectivity and stimulating local economies.

By leveraging Eve’s extensive technical expertise and UI Helicopter’s deep local knowledge, the partnership will help ensure that the development of South Korea’s AAM ecosystem is aligned with the country’s regulatory requirements while incorporating the best industry practices.

This collaboration is another milestone in the global race to build sustainable, innovative transportation solutions that are expected to revolutionize how people and goods are moved in the future. With a focus on cooperation, innovation, and technical rigor, Eve and UI Helicopter are paving the way for a new era of air mobility in South Korea.
