Jakarta, Indonesia – Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has signed a lease agreement with the American lessor GECAS for two Boeing 737-800BCF (Boeing-converted freighters).
The planes are expected to join the Indonesian airline’s freighter fleet in mid-2020, which consists of three aircraft. The 737-800BCFs are ideal freighters for short and mid-range routes, Boeing says.
Garuda Cargo provides dedicated cargo services for mail and e-commerce shipments from Soekarno–Hatta International Airport near Jakarta as well as cross-border general cargo and express transports.
GECAS is excited to provide these converted 737-800 freighters to Garuda as they expand their dedicated cargo fleet,
GECAS senior vice president Richard Greener said : We look forward to working with GECAS in implementing the latest Boeing 737-800 freighter into our fleet, said Mohamad Iqbal, Garuda Indonesia Director of Cargo and Business Development.
These newly converted 737-800 freighters will assist our growing operations as well as expanding our cargo program. Mr. Iqbal added : Garuda Cargo aims to reach eight freighters by the end of 2020.
