The Omani carrier will increase its Muscat–Amsterdam service from four weekly flights to daily operations from 1 December 2026, creating additional belly-hold capacity between the Middle East and one of Europe’s leading air cargo gateways. The expansion forms part of its wider Winter 2026/27 network growth strategy.
Oman Air is strengthening its European network by increasing frequencies on its Muscat–Amsterdam route to daily services from 1 December 2026, responding to strong demand since the route was introduced in July 2025.
The expansion will increase the service from four flights per week to seven, providing passengers and freight customers with more frequent connectivity between Oman and the Netherlands.
The route, which began operations on 1 July 2025, established the first direct air connection between Muscat and Amsterdam. It has since become an important component of Oman Air’s European network, linking the Omani capital with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, a major European passenger and cargo hub.
For the air freight sector, the increased frequency is significant because it offers additional opportunities to transport shipments between the Middle East and the Netherlands, as well as onward connections through the airline’s wider network.
Additional capacity across European markets
The Muscat–Amsterdam expansion is part of Oman Air’s broader Winter 2026/27 schedule, which includes increased frequencies and capacity across several European destinations.
The airline is also substantially expanding its Zurich operations, with capacity set to triple compared with the summer season through the deployment of widebody aircraft on up to five weekly services.
Frequencies to Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Milan and Istanbul are also being increased to as many as five flights per week.
These developments reflect Oman Air’s strategy to strengthen its European presence while improving connectivity for passengers and cargo customers travelling between Oman and major commercial centres across the continent.
The expanded European network is also expected to support inbound tourism to Oman during the winter travel season.
Belly-hold capacity creates opportunities for air freight
Oman Air’s Muscat–Amsterdam service has an established cargo component, with the route initially launched using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
When the inaugural flight arrived at Amsterdam Schiphol on 1 July 2025, the aircraft offered an estimated cargo capacity of 14–18 tonnes per flight, in addition to passenger baggage.
The inaugural cargo consignment included pharmaceuticals, engineering spare parts, courier shipments and express freight, demonstrating the route’s potential to serve a diverse range of time-sensitive commodities.
Oman Air Cargo appointed Swissport as its ground handling partner at Amsterdam Schiphol. Cargo operations were established at Swissport’s 20,000-square-metre, CEIV-certified facility in Terminal 11.
The increased flight frequency is expected to provide freight forwarders with additional booking opportunities and greater flexibility when planning shipments between Oman and Europe.
Amsterdam’s importance as a logistics gateway also offers access to the wider European distribution network, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and other neighbouring markets.
Strengthening Oman’s trade and logistics connections
The expansion reinforces Muscat’s role as a connecting point between the Middle East, Europe and markets across Asia.
For exporters and importers, more frequent passenger services can improve shipment planning, particularly for pharmaceuticals, engineering components, express consignments and other commodities requiring reliable air transport.
The additional European capacity also complements Oman Air’s broader network development strategy, which seeks to strengthen the country’s international connectivity and support trade, tourism and economic diversification.
With daily Amsterdam services beginning in December, Oman Air is adding further frequency to an established route while expanding its presence across important European aviation markets.
