Today marks a historical day, as Swiss WorldCargo begins flying to Osaka, Japan’s third-largest city and major center for commerce. The first of our new Swiss WorldCargo destinations in 2020 offers new capacity to one of Japan’s most significant cultural and business capitals.
Osaka is a major destination for cargo, due to its global and domestic position as a centre of commerce and industry. The pharmaceutical, manufacturing and financial industries all play a major role in this city of over 2 million people.
For Swiss WorldCargo, we will begin operating flights in a timing that ensures that shipments leaving Zurich in the afternoon can arrive in Osaka on the morning of the next day, leaving plenty of time for onward connection if needed. Flights departing Osaka will arrive in Zurich on the same day; providing further opportunities to connect to various global destinations.
Flights are scheduled according to the below timetable:

A team of all stars
In Osaka, a team of 3 will lead the charge. Newly hired Jun Nakatani has taken over as the New Head of Cargo Osaka and Kansai Region. Through his long-standing industry, he is well-positioned to helping to steer the air cargo market locally and ensure that Swiss WorldCargo can continue to be successful. Tango Tomonari, based in Tokyo, continues to lead the Japan team. And on the ground, support from local handling agent ANA Cargo Inc. will help to provide crucial support in quick loading and unloading.
As we have recently shown, Swiss WorldCargo is an ideal partner for the Japanese industry due to the similarity in values and cultural habits between the two countries. Our two countries have a mutual relationship based on trade and commerce habits, which will hopefully allow for continued future success.
