Indonesia is one step closer to improved regional connectivity as PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) announces that the construction of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi (Probowangi) Toll Road Package 3 has reached 74.9% completion. Expected to be operational by the end of 2025, the project is set to ease congestion, cut travel time, and enhance logistics efficiency in the East Java region.
Currently, travel between Probolinggo and Banyuwangi relies on provincial roads, often leading to heavy traffic and delays. The new toll road aims to reduce travel time by up to 50% and lower logistics costs by 10-20%, making transportation more efficient for businesses and residents alike.
Technology-Driven and Sustainable Development
To ensure precision and efficiency, WIKA has integrated cutting-edge technology into the project, including Building Information Modelling (BIM), 3D mapping, and drone-assisted land surveys. These advancements not only improve construction accuracy but also minimize environmental impact.
As part of its commitment to sustainability, WIKA is also investing in environmental and social initiatives. The company has planted trees, developed flood prevention systems, and built essential village infrastructure to support local communities.
Boosting Local Economy and Job Opportunities
Beyond infrastructure, the project is creating employment opportunities by prioritizing local workers and subcontractors. By working closely with local governments, WIKA aims to ensure that the economic benefits of the toll road extend beyond just transportation—stimulating regional growth and enhancing business opportunities.
A Step Toward National Development
WIKA’s President Director, Agung Budi Waskito, emphasized the company’s dedication to advancing Indonesia’s infrastructure, stating:
“The Probowangi Toll Road is a key part of our commitment to supporting national connectivity and economic growth. By improving logistics efficiency and strengthening regional links, we are helping build a more competitive Indonesia. WIKA is proud to be a part of this transformation.”
As a leader in Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC), WIKA remains at the forefront of Indonesia’s infrastructure development, committed to delivering smarter, sustainable, and impactful solutions for the country’s future.
