Menzies Aviation has commenced into-plane fuelling and fuel farm operations at Aberdeen International Airport (ABZ), further strengthening its aviation fuel services network across the United Kingdom. The company officially assumed responsibility for the airport’s fuel operations on 1 July 2026, expanding its UK fuels portfolio to 11 airports. The development has been confirmed through Menzies Aviation’s official announcement.
The mobilisation project was completed within 75 days, during which Menzies recruited and trained a new operational workforce, implemented fuel management systems and safety procedures, and successfully transitioned responsibility for the airport’s fuel infrastructure and aircraft refuelling services.
Under the new contract, Menzies will oversee the airport’s fuel storage and distribution facilities while providing into-plane fuelling services for commercial airlines operating at Aberdeen. The integrated operation is designed to ensure safe, reliable and efficient fuel delivery while supporting the airport’s day-to-day flight operations.
The addition of Aberdeen International Airport reinforces Menzies Aviation’s position as the world’s largest independent aviation fuel services provider and further strengthens its long-standing partnerships with airports, airlines and fuel suppliers across its global network.
Marco di Mario, Executive Vice President – Fuels at Menzies Aviation, highlighted the complexity of the mobilisation programme and the strategic importance of the airport.
“Bringing a fuel operation of this scale into service in just 75 days is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the expertise, dedication and collaboration of everyone involved. Mobilisations are among the most complex activities in our industry, requiring the right people, processes and safety culture to be in place from day one.
Aberdeen is an important airport within the UK aviation network and a key gateway for the energy sector. We look forward to working closely with the airport, airlines and fuel partners to deliver safe, dependable fuel services while continuing to invest in the long-term growth of our fuels business.”
Aberdeen International Airport plays a critical role in supporting Scotland’s offshore energy industry while serving domestic and international passenger traffic. Reliable aviation fuel infrastructure is therefore essential to maintaining operational continuity for airlines and airport stakeholders.
Daniel Anderson, Airside Operations Manager at Aberdeen International Airport, welcomed the new partnership.
“The safe and efficient management of fuel operations is essential to supporting the airlines and passengers who rely on Aberdeen International Airport every day. We welcome Menzies Aviation to this important role and look forward to working together to ensure a seamless transition and the continued delivery of reliable fuel services across the airport.”
The latest expansion reflects Menzies Aviation’s continued investment in aviation fuel services as airports increasingly seek experienced partners capable of managing complex fuel supply chains, maintaining rigorous safety standards and supporting efficient aircraft turnaround operations.
