  • Helsinki new, Copenhagen with additional capacities in A321F network
  • Route expansion also ensures faster transport times
  • Tailor-made solutions provide flexible service offer

With the addition of Helsinki (HEL) as a new destination to its A321 network and an additional connection to Copenhagen (CPH), Lufthansa Cargo is significantly expanding its position in the Nordic region. Starting on 27 September, Lufthansa Cargo will fly its A321F freighters on a new route from Frankfurt to Copenhagen via Helsinki. Copenhagen will thus receive a new connection to Frankfurt every Thursday, in addition to the existing freighter service between the two cities on Mondays. The new service, with flight number LH8354, will arrive in Helsinki and Copenhagen in the late evening and night respectively. It offers the convenience of late cut-off times and an early morning direct connection from Frankfurt to more than 300 destinations worldwide.

The Nordic countries, which include Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland, are strategically located between Europe and North America. This geographic positioning makes them essential for international freight transportation. High-value exports, including technology, pharmaceuticals, machinery and seafood, are the main focus here. These industries require reliable and efficient air freight services to transport their products globally. To increase capacity, a further connection to Stockholm (ARN) will follow soon.

“Looking ahead, our strategic goal is to further expand our network and logistics in the Nordic countries by offering shorter transport times and reliable and tailored solutions for our customers,” concludes Ashwin Bhat CEO of Lufthansa Cargo.

For a year now, Lufthansa Cargo has been successfully offering its customers fast and flexible transport solutions in both scheduled and charter business with its A321F connections. Lufthansa Cargo currently operates three A321F freighters, and the fleet will grow to a total of four aircraft by fall of this year. The Airbus A321F freighter is a twin-engine medium-haul aircraft. Thanks to advanced technology, it is very powerful while being fuel-efficient. With 14 pallet and container positions on the main deck and ten on the lower deck, it has a total payload of 28 metric tons and adds significant capacity into and out of the region.

“We are very pleased about the extension of the new connections. It reflects what we want to offer with our A321F fleet: Fast services across borders matching the exact needs in terms of routing and schedule as per the customers’ requirements and their transportation needs,” highlights Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo.

In addition to the expanded short- and medium-haul offering, Lufthansa Cargo will provide its customers 83 weekly connections with 16 Boeing 777 freighters to intercontinental destinations in this year’s winter flight schedule. Thereby the air freight expert enables the belly capacities of more than 6,000 flights operated by Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines and SunExpress.
