Antonov Airlines, NEO Air Charter and forwarder Logwin have teamed up to move two huge parts for a wood production site in Chile.
The operation involved the transportation of a rim from Italy and a ferrule from Brazil using an AN-124 freighter, with the two items having a total weight of about 80 tonnes.
The pieces were needed for a kiln that produces quicklime for wood production.
Antonov explained that both pieces needed to be changed during a plant shutdown.
“For this, it was necessary to deliver both pieces at the same time of assembly and take advantage of the engineering team hired for such purposes,” Antonov said.
Antonov Airlines commercial executive Olha Danylova said: “The cargo was located in two different parts of the world. It was required to develop a system of fastenings and points for securing the load in order not to build a frame, since this is a long process and financially costly. “In cooperation with our customer Logwin we organized a trip of our load planner specialist to the manufacturing facility in Italy to assist in lashing planning.”
Logwin Air and Ocean director of product management for airfreight Alexander Bang added: “We organised special transport from Italy via Brazil into Chile. It was amazing to see in Italy how dedicated and professional all the arrangements were done from the involved teams from Ukrainian Antonov/NEO Air Charter and Logwin in Germany, Italy and Brazil. “The additional loading in Brazil was managed without any issues and the AN-124 arrived in time in Chile and was unloaded without any problems.”
