Ameriflight has appointed aviation executive David Harvey as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, as the US cargo carrier looks to build on its existing operations and pursue further growth.
Harvey brings more than 25 years of aviation leadership experience spanning airlines, charter aviation, cargo and global travel. His background includes operational and commercial leadership, network planning, technology, customer experience and business transformation.
Ameriflight Chairman Jim Martell said Harvey’s combination of aviation and commercial experience would support the company’s next phase of development.
“David brings the combination of aviation expertise, commercial discipline, and leadership experience we believe will help Ameriflight build on its strong foundation and accelerate its next chapter of growth,” Martell said.
He added that Ameriflight sees opportunities to expand its customer base, diversify its revenue mix and pursue additional growth opportunities across the aviation and logistics sectors.
Harvey said Ameriflight had established a strong operating platform and an important role serving customers across aviation and logistics.
“I’m excited to join the team and build on that foundation,” he said. “We have a tremendous opportunity ahead of us to grow the business while continuing to deliver the safety, reliability, and service our customers depend on.”
Extensive airline and commercial experience
Prior to joining Ameriflight, Harvey worked in an executive advisory capacity with airlines, travel technology companies and enterprise clients, focusing on commercial strategy, sales effectiveness, distribution and AI-enabled transformation.
He previously served as Chief Commercial Officer of Wheels Up, where he was responsible for global marketing, sales, pricing and revenue management.
Harvey also spent more than two decades at Southwest Airlines, ultimately becoming Chief Sales Officer. In that role, he led the airline’s sales organisation across corporate, small and medium-sized business, government and university segments, while also overseeing key distribution partnerships and strategy.
Earlier in his Southwest career, Harvey held leadership positions covering corporate strategy, network planning, commercial performance and technology. He also played a role in the integration of AirTran Airways.
Ameriflight cargo network
Ameriflight operates as a Part 135 cargo carrier and provides feeder services for express operators, including UPS and DHL, alongside on-demand cargo charter services.
The company says it operates more than 100 aircraft from 11 bases, with more than 750 weekly departures. Its workforce includes more than 500 employees, including more than 150 pilots.
The appointment comes as Ameriflight continues to position its regional cargo and charter operations within the wider US logistics network. Under Harvey’s leadership, the company has identified customer expansion, revenue diversification and new business opportunities as areas of focus.
Harvey is now listed by Ameriflight as President and Chief Executive Officer.
