AERION has appointed César Penciolelli to lead its global airline partnerships and commercial development activities, with the appointment effective from 1 October 2026.
In his new position, Penciolelli will work across AERION’s businesses and international teams, focusing on strengthening relationships with airline partners and aligning the group’s capabilities with their commercial and operational requirements.
The role is designed to improve coordination across AERION’s different business units, providing airlines with access to a broader range of services and expertise through a more integrated commercial approach.
AERION is the commercial brand of the group holding behind ECS Group, Global GSA Group, TCE, CargoTech, Mail and More, and HealthC’Air. Its activities bring together general sales and service agent (GSSA) services, technology, specialised capabilities and operational solutions across the air cargo value chain.
The appointment reflects the group’s strategy of positioning airline relationships at the centre of its commercial development, while strengthening collaboration between its regional and global teams.
Strong background in airline procurement and logistics
Penciolelli brings experience spanning management consulting, supply chain operations and international air cargo procurement.
An industrial engineer specialising in supply chain management, he began his professional career in strategy and operations consulting, holding positions at Strategy&, part of PwC, and EY.
He subsequently joined CEVA Logistics, initially working within the office of the Group Chief Operating Officer before taking responsibility for Global Air Procurement and Carrier Management within the company’s Air Product organisation.
His experience working with airlines from the procurement side is expected to provide valuable insight into carrier requirements, commercial priorities and operational challenges.
This background will be particularly relevant to his new responsibilities, which involve connecting airline partners with the appropriate expertise and resources available across AERION’s businesses.
Strengthening airline partnerships across the group
Adrien Thominet, Chairman of the holding company behind AERION’s businesses and Founder of AERION, said Penciolelli’s industry experience and understanding of airline partnerships made him well suited to the position.
He highlighted the importance of improving coordination across the group’s capabilities to ensure that airline partners receive solutions aligned with their individual priorities.
Penciolelli said his experience working closely with airlines had reinforced the importance of strong commercial relationships, clear priorities and solutions that address practical operational requirements.
He added that his focus would be on making AERION’s collective expertise more accessible and relevant to airline customers.
In his new role, he will work closely with regional and global teams to strengthen coordination around key airline accounts and support the development of relationships throughout the group’s international network.
An integrated approach to air cargo services
The appointment comes as the air cargo industry increasingly emphasises integrated commercial representation, digital capabilities and operational efficiency.
By bringing together its GSSA, technology and specialised service businesses, AERION aims to offer airlines a coordinated platform covering multiple aspects of cargo management and commercial development.
Penciolelli’s cross-functional position is intended to strengthen this approach, ensuring that airline requirements are understood across the organisation and matched with the appropriate services.
His appointment places greater emphasis on developing long-term airline partnerships and supporting the group’s wider international growth strategy.
