Menzies Aviation, the leading service partner to the world’s airports and airlines, has introduced new artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities within its MORSE Safety Management System (SMS), helping teams improve the quality, accuracy and consistency of safety reporting and investigations.
MORSE’s built-in AI Assist helps employees complete reports and investigations, supporting more accurate and concise reporting. An AI-powered quality review also checks incident reports for completeness and accuracy, suggesting improvements where needed, while ensuring human oversight remains central to safety-critical decisions.
By helping improve the quality and accuracy of safety data, the technology supports better-informed decision making and safer, more reliable operations for airline customers, airports, passengers and employees.
MORSE is Menzies’ digital Safety Management System, bringing incident and hazard reporting, investigations and safety data together in one platform. Used across the company’s global operations, it provides teams with real-time visibility of safety and security risk.
In 2025, Menzies teams identified 46,950 hazards globally, a 29% increase on the previous year, reflecting the company’s focus on proactive reporting and risk management. So far this year, more than 6,800 potential disruptions have been prevented due to hazard reporting, including the identification of an aircraft tyre defect in Romania before it could affect operations and the detection of undeclared dangerous goods in Uganda prior to loading. As the AI capability develops, Menzies plans to explore how it can help identify patterns and contributing factors behind incidents to enable earlier visibility of emerging risks and preventative action across its operations.
Yogesh Parekh, Chief Safety & Training Officer, Menzies Aviation, said: “Safety and security underpin every service we deliver for our customers. MORSE already gives our teams a robust framework for identifying, investigating and learning from incidents across our global operations. AI is helping our teams produce clearer, more consistent reporting and investigations, giving them better information when making decisions on safety and security.
“Technology will never replace the expertise and judgement of our people, but it can help them make better-informed decisions. As these capabilities evolve, we see significant opportunity to use data and insights to better understand emerging risks and continue improving safety performance across our network.”
MORSE sits at the heart of Menzies Aviation’s approach to safety, combining its Safety Management System with a wider culture focused on responsible, safe and effective operations. The new capability is being highlighted as part of MORSE Week, Menzies’ twice-yearly programme focused on learning, collaboration and activities that reinforce its safety culture. MORSE stands for Menzies Operating Responsibly, Safely and Effectively and is embedded across the company’s global operations at 347 airports in 65 countries.
