The cargo terminal at Belo Horizonte International Airport welcomed a Cargolux freighter with 3.3 million doses of meningitis-C vaccines on July 30. The cargo was destined to FUNED and will be made available to the National Immunization Program of the Ministry of Health.
The vaccines, manufactured by the pharmaceutical company GSK, were transported on a Boeing 747-400F to Belo Horizonte International Airport, in Confins, in the Metropolitan Region. The flight that brought the vaccines came from Luxembourg, in Europe. This is yet another joint effort between the public and private sectors to guarantee the supply of vaccines to the Brazilian population, so that there is no break in the vaccination coverage calendar in the country at this time of the pandemic.
“At this time of Covid-19 pandemic, receiving this cargo flight is a relevant effort to ensure the delivery of the vaccine and demonstrates how the air modal is essential to ensure safety in the transport of cargo, especially in this segment. The airport reinforces its commitment to contribute to the transportation of resources related to life sciences and is available to always offer integrated logistics solutions to its customers,” says Rafael Laranjeira, executive manager of Logistics Solutions at BH Airport.
