CEVA Logistics, a division of the CMA CGM Group, remains steadfast in its commitment to “Acting for the Planet” in observance of two significant global events this week—World Environment Day on June 5 and World Ocean Day on June 8. The company’s dedication to environmental stewardship stands as one of its primary Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pillars and a central component of its long-term corporate strategy. CEVA is actively implementing concrete measures today while keeping an eye on innovative solutions for the future.
Aligned with the broader goals of the CMA CGM Group, including CEVA Logistics, to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050, significant investments are being made in research and development to enhance operational efficiency and foster the development of sustainable energy sources and technologies in the realm of transportation and logistics.
CEVA Logistics is making substantial strides in reducing its carbon footprint across various fronts. Efforts include transitioning its warehouses to low carbon electricity, which has increased to 34% from 22% in 2022, as well as bolstering its fleet with low emission vehicles, tripling the number in operation since 2023. Collaborative efforts with carriers are also underway to procure more sustainable transport solutions for customers, resulting in a reduction of overall CO2 emissions by 200,000 tons from 2022 to 2023.
In alignment with the CMA CGM Group’s initiatives, CEVA employees globally are participating in “Planet Days” on June 6-7, engaging in diverse projects aimed at environmental conservation across 50 countries. These activities encompass a range of endeavors such as workshops on environmental awareness, reforestation efforts, beach cleanups, and partnerships with conservation organizations. Additionally, the Group’s Biodiversity Project of the Year award recognizes and rewards teams dedicated to preserving endangered species and delicate ecosystems worldwide.
CEVA Logistics is actively pursuing short-term initiatives towards decarbonization through a strategic plan built on three key pillars. These initiatives encompass enhancing energy efficiency across its global network of over 900 warehouses, transitioning to 100% low-carbon electricity by 2025, and expanding the use of LED lighting and solar panels across its facilities. Moreover, investments in electric and low emission vehicles for ground operations aim to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 67,000 tons of CO2 annually by 2025. CEVA is also collaborating with customers, carriers, and end-consumers to revolutionize the global supply chain towards sustainability, emphasizing the importance of shared responsibility in the decarbonization efforts. By exploring innovative decarbonization levers and maintaining service excellence, CEVA is committed to offering “Better Ways” for transporting products while prioritizing environmental sustainability. Key focus areas in CEVA’s solutions offering include optimization of flow and loading, route optimization, modal shift, carrier selection based on CO2 performance, adoption of low-carbon fuels, and effective waste management practices.
