Temperature-controlled packaging and logistics specialist Cold Chain Technologies (CCT) has officially inaugurated a 42,000-square-foot facility in Taloja, Navi Mumbai, marking a significant expansion of its operations in India and strengthening the country’s cold chain infrastructure for pharmaceutical and life sciences shipments.

The new facility, located in Taloja in Navi Mumbai, integrates the company’s global thermal assurance portfolio with locally delivered manufacturing, research and validation capabilities. The investment forms part of CCT’s wider strategy to expand its global cold chain network while supporting the growing demand for temperature-controlled logistics in the pharmaceutical sector.

Strategic location supporting pharma hubs

The site’s location provides strong connectivity to several major pharmaceutical manufacturing centres across India, including Ahmedabad, Pune, Goa, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Indore and Nashik.

In addition, the facility benefits from proximity to major air cargo gateways, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, enabling efficient connections for both domestic distribution and international air freight shipments.

According to the company, the site will support not only Indian pharmaceutical exporters but also regional cold chain users across the Asia-Pacific market and global supply chains. The new operation complements CCT’s existing facilities in Mumbai and Hyderabad, expanding the company’s regional footprint.

Integrated operations under one roof

Designed to provide high levels of quality control and operational efficiency, the facility follows a fully integrated “under-one-roof” model tailored to the needs of pharmaceutical and life sciences customers.

The site combines manufacturing, research and development, and validation capabilities, allowing products to move seamlessly from production to delivery while maintaining strict temperature and quality control standards. This integrated approach is intended to improve operational efficiency, reduce lead times and enhance oversight across the production and validation process.

CCT said the facility reflects its broader approach to thermal assurance, which combines specialised packaging products, advanced digital technologies and experienced cold chain professionals to protect temperature-sensitive shipments.

Community engagement and education

In addition to strengthening logistics infrastructure, the company has incorporated a community engagement initiativeaimed at inspiring the next generation of cold chain and logistics professionals.

As part of the opening ceremony, students from New English High School and Junior College, Taloja were invited to tour the facility and gain insight into pharmaceutical supply chain operations. The visit included a keynote presentation titled “Importance of Vaccines in Our Lives,” highlighting the role of cold chain logistics in ensuring the safe transport of life-saving medicines.

Strengthening India’s role in global pharma logistics

Aman Bhardwaj, Vice President of International Operations at Cold Chain Technologies, said the new facility represents a key milestone in the company’s global expansion.

“The establishment of our new Mumbai facility is a major step in the expansion and reinforcement of CCT’s global network,” Bhardwaj said.

“We believe that thermal assurance goes beyond product innovation, requiring cutting-edge digital technologies and experienced cold chain professionals to be truly effective.

“For this reason, local facilities are vitally important, offering customers in-region responsive service and customers globally a reliable station within their supply chains.”

Bhardwaj added that the facility also underscores India’s growing importance within the global pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution ecosystem.

“We’re proud of what this site means for India’s standing in the global pharma supply chain. As a pivotal player in pharmaceutical manufacturing, it is critical that the relevant infrastructure is in place to support global distribution, and CCT’s Mumbai site is a symbol of India’s growing position in the global life sciences supply chain.”

With pharmaceutical exports continuing to expand and demand for temperature-controlled logistics solutions rising worldwide, investments such as CCT’s Navi Mumbai facility are expected to play a critical role in strengthening global cold chain networks and supporting the secure movement of medicines and vaccines.
