Brazilian commercial aircraft manufacturer Embraer has completed work on its first E190 freighter conversion.
In a LinkedIn post on November 30, Embraer shared a time-lapse video showing how the company modified the E190.
According to the video, structural modifications to the aircraft have included reinforcement of the main-deck floor, installation of a 9G rigid cargo barrier, a cargo loading system that accommodates industry standard ULDs and pallets, and a new side loading door.
“We’ve already started on the next E190F and soon we’ll apply the same “P2F” process to the larger E195,” said the company in the social media post.
Embraer’s first E190 passenger aircraft arrived at its conversion facility in Brazil in February.
The company launched its programme to convert E190 and E195 passenger aircraft to freighters in March 2022.
The E-Jet freighter programme has been created in response to e-commerce growth and increased demand for cargo capacity, especially to smaller markets.
The E190F has a payload of 10,700kg and the E195F a payload of 12,300kg.
First deliveries are planned for 2024.
