Global GSA Group and WestJet Cargo are highlighting the continued success of their long-standing partnership in the UK air cargo market, which has delivered consistent annual growth of between 20 and 30 percent since Global GSA Group began representing the Canadian carrier in 2019.
Over the past six years, the collaboration has evolved from establishing WestJet Cargo’s commercial footprint in the UK to driving sustained, strategic growth and strengthening brand recognition among freight forwarders and logistics providers. The partnership has leveraged local market expertise, deep-rooted relationships with the forwarding community, and close operational coordination to steadily increase tonnage, market share and customer confidence across both general and specialised cargo segments.
Heathrow as a strategic gateway
London, and in particular London Heathrow Airport, has played a central role in the partnership’s success. As one of Europe’s most important air cargo hubs, Heathrow provides critical connectivity between Canada, the UK and continental Europe, supporting transatlantic trade flows and reinforcing WestJet Cargo’s positioning as a reliable carrier in the market.
Daily Boeing 787 services have been instrumental in underpinning this growth, offering consistent capacity and supporting a diverse cargo mix that includes general freight as well as specialised products such as perishables, seafood and live animals. This reliability has been key to building long-term customer trust and expanding WestJet Cargo’s presence in the competitive UK market.
“Our collaboration with Global GSA Group in the UK is built on trust, shared ambition and a mutual commitment to growth,” said Wayne Davidson, head of sales at WestJet Cargo. “By working closely together, we have achieved sustained year-on-year growth while strengthening our position across key cargo segments and reinforcing our long-term commitment to the UK and wider European market.”
Focus on sustainable growth and digital enablement
According to Aytekin Saray, chief executive of Global GSA Group, the partnership reflects a shared approach to building sustainable airline representation through strong local execution and long-term strategy.
“This partnership perfectly reflects our approach to developing enduring airline relationships,” Saray said. “Together with WestJet Cargo, we have delivered consistent growth across both general cargo and specialised products, supported by strong local expertise, close operational collaboration and increasing digital enablement.”
Looking ahead, both companies reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding WestJet Cargo’s position in the UK. The focus will remain on reliable capacity, digitally supported commercial solutions, and high-quality service delivery, ensuring customers continue to benefit from competitive and dependable cargo options across the region.
