Agreement extends Jettainer’s services across the Abra Group as Brazilian carrier prepares for long-haul cargo operations with Airbus A330-900 fleet.
Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas has selected Jettainer to manage its fleet of unit load devices (ULDs), signing a long-term agreement that will support the airline’s expanding cargo operations as it prepares to launch intercontinental services.
Under the partnership, Jettainer will provide comprehensive ULD supply, maintenance and digital fleet management services, helping GOL optimize the performance of its container and pallet fleet while improving operational efficiency across its growing network.
The agreement also strengthens Jettainer’s presence within the Abra Group, making the Lufthansa Cargo subsidiary the ULD management provider for all of the group’s airlines, including Avianca, GOL and Wamos Air.
Digital Platform to Improve ULD Visibility
As part of the agreement, GOL will deploy JettwareNG, Jettainer’s cloud-based digital management platform, which provides real-time visibility into ULD inventories and movements.
The system is designed to improve asset utilization, reduce equipment losses and streamline container and pallet management across airline operations. Enhanced transparency over ULD fleets is expected to support more efficient cargo handling while reducing operational costs.
According to Jettainer, managing ULD operations across multiple Abra Group airlines will create greater synergies, improve coordination and contribute to cost optimization throughout the group’s expanding network.
Supporting GOL’s Long-Haul Growth Strategy
The partnership comes at a pivotal stage in GOL’s expansion plans as the airline prepares to enter the long-haul market with the introduction of Airbus A330-900 aircraft.
The carrier has committed to acquiring five A330-900 widebody aircraft, which will significantly increase belly cargo capacity and enable GOL to launch intercontinental passenger and cargo services.
Efficient ULD management will play an important role in maximizing cargo capacity, improving aircraft turnaround times and ensuring the reliable movement of freight across long-haul operations.
Patricia Bello, General Director of GOLLOG, GOL’s cargo division, said the partnership represents another milestone in the airline’s international growth strategy.
“The partnership with Jettainer marks another important step for our new intercontinental operations, enabling the safe and efficient transport of cargo on our widebody aircraft,” Bello said.
She added that Jettainer’s expertise and technology will support the airline as it continues expanding its global network and connecting businesses, customers and markets more efficiently.
Expanding Presence in South America
For Jettainer, the agreement further strengthens its position in the South American aviation market while expanding its collaboration with airlines across the Abra Group.
Shailendra Kothari, Managing Director of Jettainer Americas Inc., said supporting GOL’s fleet expansion reflects the company’s commitment to delivering efficient ULD management solutions for fast-growing airlines.
He noted that adding one of Latin America’s largest airlines to Jettainer’s customer portfolio enhances the company’s regional presence while creating additional operational synergies across the Abra Group’s airline network.
With GOL transporting more than 30 million passengers annually and operating approximately 700 flights each day, the partnership provides Jettainer with a significant opportunity to support one of the region’s largest airline operations.
Growing Focus on Cargo Efficiency
As airlines expand international networks and invest in larger aircraft, digital ULD management has become increasingly important for improving cargo efficiency and controlling operating costs.
Cloud-based fleet management systems enable airlines to monitor container availability, reduce misplaced equipment and optimize asset deployment across global operations—critical capabilities as passenger carriers continue to grow their cargo businesses.
For GOL, the partnership with Jettainer provides the operational infrastructure needed to support its transition into long-haul aviation while strengthening cargo capabilities ahead of its next phase of international expansion.
