Renewed agreement builds on collaboration established in 2022, with IoT tracking planned to improve fleet visibility and operational efficiency
Trinity Airways and Jettainer have extended their unit load device (ULD) management partnership, continuing a collaboration that began in 2022 and introducing plans to enhance fleet visibility through Internet of Things (IoT) tracking technology.
Under the extended agreement, Jettainer will continue supporting the airline’s ULD operations as its requirements evolve. The planned introduction of IoT tracking is expected to improve transparency, strengthen asset monitoring and support more efficient management of containers and pallets across the airline’s network.
Since the partnership began, Jettainer has helped Trinity Airways establish its ULD fleet and adapt it to changing operational needs. The airline has relied on lightweight ULDs, which can help reduce aircraft weight and contribute to improved fuel efficiency when used in suitable operations.
Taesoo Kim, chief manager of cargo transportation at Trinity Airways, said Jettainer had provided consistent operational support and expertise since the beginning of the relationship. He said the airline looked forward to continuing the collaboration as its business developed.
Digital tracking to support fleet management
The planned IoT implementation represents the next stage in the partnership, with the technology expected to provide greater visibility into ULD movements and support more effective fleet oversight.
ULDs are essential to air cargo operations, enabling freight to be consolidated into standardised containers and pallets for loading and transport. Maintaining the right equipment at the right location is critical to efficient cargo handling, helping airlines manage operational requirements and reduce the risk of equipment shortages or imbalances.
Digital tracking can support this process by improving information about equipment location and movement, helping operational teams make more informed decisions and coordinate fleet deployment.
Thorsten Riekert, chief sales officer at Jettainer, said the contract extension reflected the strength of the relationship and the work of the teams supporting the airline’s operations. He said the company would continue helping Trinity Airways address its changing ULD requirements, with IoT technology forming part of the next phase of cooperation.
Supporting operational growth
The extended agreement reinforces the role of outsourced ULD management in helping airlines maintain equipment availability while adapting to changes in their networks and cargo operations.
By combining fleet-management expertise with digital tracking capabilities, Trinity Airways and Jettainer aim to improve operational transparency and efficiency as the airline continues to develop its cargo activities.
The planned technology rollout will build on the operational framework established since 2022, with both companies seeking to maintain reliable ULD support while responding to evolving requirements across the air cargo supply chain.
