Cargo handling at Singapore Changi Airport is getting a boost as Lödige Industries takes over the maintenance of key systems for dnata, reinforcing a partnership that has thrived for decades. Among the systems now under Lödige’s care is a material handling system installed in 1979, the company’s first in Asia, which continues to operate reliably more than 40 years later.
This collaboration underscores dnata’s commitment to efficiency and innovation as global cargo volumes rise. The maintenance agreement extends beyond the legacy system to include the Automatic Cargo Handling System (ACHS), the Pallet Cargo Handling System (PCHS), and specialized mechanical systems at the Cool Chain and perishable terminal. Additionally, Lödige Industries is working on new solutions to enhance cargo handling operations at dnata.
Sam Gould, Head of Cargo at dnata Singapore, highlighted the value of this ongoing partnership. “Lödige Industries has proven time and again that they not only have the technical expertise but also a deep understanding of our needs. Their reliability and innovation allow us to keep our systems running smoothly, ensuring we meet the high standards expected by our customers.”
Modernizing and maintaining existing cargo infrastructure is a critical part of dnata’s strategy to ensure seamless operations. Upgrading rather than replacing systems helps extend their life cycle, minimize downtime, and reduce maintenance costs, all while keeping up with growing logistical demands.
Lödige Industries has a well-established track record of delivering high-quality, customized solutions. Ranga Jayaweera, General Manager for Lödige Industries Singapore, emphasized the company’s approach: “Maintaining well-built systems and upgrading them to meet new challenges is often the most effective way forward. We are pleased to continue supporting dnata in this mission.”
This isn’t the first time Lödige has played a pivotal role in dnata’s operations. The company previously equipped dnata’s perishable center at Changi Airport, implemented an elevating transfer vehicle (ETV) system, and provided essential equipment upgrades. Beyond Singapore, Lödige has worked on projects at major airports in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, London, and Amsterdam, including the expansion of dnata City East at London Heathrow and system modifications at Sydney’s Terminal One in 2024.
As dnata and Lödige Industries continue their decades-long collaboration, the focus remains on future-proofing cargo handling operations with cutting-edge technology and strategic upgrades. “This partnership, built over many years, is something we take great pride in,” Gould added. “We look forward to continuing our work together to drive excellence in cargo handling.”
With global supply chains facing increasing demands, investments in efficient and reliable infrastructure like this one are more important than ever. As Lödige Industries and dnata push forward, Changi Airport is set to remain a leader in world-class cargo handling for years to come.
