My Freighter and Air Europa expand cargo networks with new tie-up

My Freighter and Air Europa have announced an interline agreement that will allow the former to add flights to the Americas and the latter to expand into Asia. The agreement will give Tashkent-hubbed My Freighter access to eight new destinations: Panama City, Cancun, Dominican Republic, Punta Cana, Columbia, Miami, New York and Sao Paolo.

In return, Air Europa will have access to Tashkent as a hub for My Freighter flights and Central Asia through the airline’s Road Feeder Service (RFS) trucking network.

My Freighter said that the partnership would allow it to send cargo to North and South America as part of its strategy to link “east and west through Central Asia”. My Freighter chairman Abdulaziz Abdurakhmanov said: “The partnership with Air Europa has opened doors for us to North and South America – with such a partner we will cross previously closed oceans and open new horizons. “We are motivated to create a leading player in the air cargo market, and through mutually beneficial partnerships we will be able to achieve this goal even faster. New countries, a hub in Tashkent and ambitious goals to capture the market.”

Air Europa will gain access to Asia and central Asia through the partnership.

Air Europa Cargo general manager Jordi Pique added: “We are very happy with the agreement reached, as it reinforces Air Europa Cargo’s growth objectives and allows us to expand the network of destinations with which we connect.“For our customers, it means expanding our offer by covering from Asia to the Americas with a reliable partner, putting in value both our strategic position in the Madrid-Barajas hub.”

Air Europa’s fleet consists of Boeing 787 and Boeing 737 aircraft and flights to more than 40 destinations covering Europe, North Africa, North America, South America and the Caribbean.

The partnership is the third major development for My Freighter this year after it was granted permission to start flights to China earlier this year.

My Freighter also took delivery in March of its third newly converted 767-300 passenger to freighter (P2F) aircraft from US lessor Air Transport Services Group (ATSG).

The airline took delivery of its 747-200F in October 2022 and said at the time it planned to add five more, although reduced demand in 2023 resulted in many airlines changing their fleet plans.
