In a move signaling a major step forward for digital transformation in airfreight, Saudia Cargo and Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) have launched a live integration of IATA’s ONE Record standard in partnership with CHAMP Cargosystems.
This pioneering collaboration establishes a real-world use case for ONE Record, aiming to boost air cargo transparency and deliver real-time shipment visibility to all stakeholders. According to CHAMP, the integration is a significant milestone in accelerating industry-wide adoption of the IATA initiative.
John Batten, Chief Executive EMEAA at WFS, emphasized the broader impact of the project:
“This is another important digitalisation initiative for WFS. We welcome the opportunity to be part of a user case that benefits not only our operations but also signals the value of digital solutions to the entire industry. The biggest leaps come from collaborations like these, guided by IATA and implemented by tech and cargo leaders.”
Central to the project is CHAMP’s 1Neo-Connect platform, designed to enable seamless, standardised data exchange between carriers and handlers. The result is improved data accuracy, real-time booking updates, and enhanced shipment visibility — all contributing to more agile and efficient cargo operations.
CHAMP CEO Chris McDermott highlighted the broader benefits:
“By leveraging the standardised data exchange ONE Record offers, we’re enhancing operational agility and delivering greater value to customers through our plug-and-play 1Neo-Connect service.”
Saudia Cargo, which continues to advance its Digital Transformation strategy, sees the initiative as a key driver of innovation.
“Our collaboration with CHAMP on the adoption of IATA’s ONE Record initiative is a testament to our ongoing roadmap,” said Eng. Hesham Alhussayen, VP Corporate Services at Saudia Cargo. “It enables greater efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness — all crucial to delivering a high-quality service to our customers.”
To support widespread implementation, CHAMP has also developed standalone sandbox and pilot environments for clients to trial ONE Record before going live.
