Silk Way West Airlines and Azerpost LLC have signed a memorandum of cooperation designed to strengthen Azerbaijan’s position as a growing logistics hub and accelerate the development of postal, air cargo, and e-commerce operations across the region.
The agreement outlines a strategic framework covering international and domestic cargo delivery, mail sorting, warehousing, and logistics optimisation. By combining Silk Way West Airlines’ global air cargo reach with Azerpost’s national postal infrastructure, the partnership aims to streamline the movement of goods both within Azerbaijan and across key international corridors.
Under the new framework, Azerpost will utilise Silk Way West Airlines’ expanding network to transport international e-commerce parcels and postal shipments to Baku for onward distribution. The airline, in turn, will benefit from higher cargo volumes and an enhanced position in the fast-growing e-commerce logistics segment, while Azerpost will manage sorting, handling, and last-mile delivery across the country.
A central component of the cooperation is the development of joint logistics capabilities within the Alat Free Economic Zone, which is emerging as a cornerstone of Azerbaijan’s long-term logistics strategy. In the first phase, the partners will establish a fully automated, 12,000 sq m e-commerce terminal dedicated to processing postal and online retail shipments. The facility is expected to support large-scale regional distribution and improve the speed and efficiency of cross-border parcel flows.
“This partnership marks an important milestone in developing Azerbaijan’s postal and logistics connectivity,” said Vugar Mammadov, Vice-President of Silk Way West Airlines. “By joining forces with Azerpost, we aim to further expand our e-commerce logistics capabilities and contribute to the growth of the Alat Free Economic Zone as a key hub for regional and global cargo flows.”
Isi Mustafayev, Acting Chairman of Azerpost LLC, highlighted the operational benefits for customers: “Our cooperation with Silk Way West Airlines will significantly enhance the efficiency and speed of international postal operations, allowing us to provide faster and more reliable delivery services to customers in Azerbaijan and abroad.”
Both organisations plan to deepen their collaboration through upcoming digital, operational, and infrastructure projects, supporting Azerbaijan’s ambition to evolve into a major logistics gateway connecting East and West.
