Turkish Airlines has deepened its strategic presence in the United States by awarding a multi-year cargo and ground handling contract to Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS Group company, covering operations at Miami International Airport (MIA) and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

The three-year agreement, which commenced on July 17, 2025, in Miami and August 1, 2025, in New York, underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing efficiency and reliability across two of its most important North American gateways.

Under the terms of the contract, WFS will provide end-to-end cargo handling, mail processing, and ramp operations from MIA’s Building 707, and cargo and ramp handling from JFK’s Building 260. The scope of work encompasses full ground service support for Turkish Airlines’ dedicated freighter operations, including the Airbus A330F and Boeing 747/777F aircraft types.

Operational volumes under the agreement are significant: at Miami, WFS will manage four weekly flights, handling an estimated 18,250 tonnes of cargo annually. At JFK, the company will oversee three weekly flights with an anticipated throughput of approximately 36,000 tonnes per year. These services are designed to support Turkish Airlines’ growing cargo network, which connects the U.S. with key global markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Frank Clemente, Senior Vice President, Cargo and Express North America at WFS, emphasised the strategic importance of the deal:

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with Turkish Airlines across these two strategic U.S. gateways. This contract reinforces our commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality ground handling services that meet the operational demands of one of the world’s leading cargo carriers.”

The award builds on an established partnership between the two companies. WFS already provides cargo and ground handling services for Turkish Airlines at seven other North American locations—Boston (BOS), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Seattle (SEA), Houston (IAH), and Washington Dulles (IAD)—making Miami and JFK the latest additions to its network support.

Turkish Airlines’ decision to expand its engagement with WFS was influenced by the handler’s global reach, proven service quality, competitive commercial terms, and strong relationships within the aviation and logistics sectors. The airline’s endorsement reflects a high level of trust in WFS’s ability to deliver consistent, safe, and cost-effective operations across multiple stations.

As part of the SATS Group, WFS operates one of the largest independent ground handling and cargo service networks in the world. The company’s global footprint spans key cargo hubs in Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East, with a focus on operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and customer service leadership.

With the addition of Miami and JFK, WFS further cements its role as a critical partner in Turkish Airlines’ international cargo strategy, ensuring the seamless movement of freight through two of the busiest cargo airports in the United States.
