Unilode Aviation Solutions, a global leader in Unit Load Device (ULD) management and digital logistics solutions, has unveiled Super Sentinel, a next-generation digital tracking system designed to tackle one of air cargo’s most persistent challenges: lost and unreported ULDs.
The solution builds on Unilode’s existing suite of Bluetooth and LoRa long-range tags, enhancing tracking capabilities beyond the company’s fixed reader network. With Super Sentinel, Unilode can locate misplaced or unreported ULDs anywhere worldwide, ensuring unprecedented visibility across airfreight operations. The initiative is part of the company’s broader digital strategy to reduce ULD loss and improve operational efficiency across its fleet.
Developed in collaboration with OnAsset Intelligence, a leading provider of wireless tracking devices for land, sea, and air shipments, Super Sentinel provides piece-level tracking tailored to the needs of airlines, freight forwarders, and cargo operators. The system is set to be implemented across Unilode’s extensive fleet of more than 220,000 ULDs throughout 2026.
“Super Sentinel represents a major step forward in Unilode’s digital evolution,” said Ross Marino, CEO of Unilode Aviation Solutions. “It complements our existing digital capabilities, enabling tracking of lost and unreported ULDs beyond our reader network and reinforcing our commitment to operational transparency and efficiency.”
Adam Crossno, CEO of OnAsset Intelligence, added: “Our partnership with Unilode continues to push the boundaries of cargo visibility. Super Sentinel demonstrates how scalable digital technology can deliver measurable operational value on a global scale, laying the foundation for future innovations in ULD intelligence and recovery.”
Driving the Digital Revolution in ULD Management
Unilode’s existing digital solutions—featuring real-time ULD tracking, digital serviceability reporting, an integrated customer portal, and system connectivity—have already shown measurable benefits. According to the company, digitised ULDs are far less likely to go unreported than their non-digitised counterparts, with loss levels reduced to just 0.01%.
Super Sentinel is expected to further enhance these results, with Unilode projecting a 95% reduction in unreported ULDs compared to non-digitalized units. The system also provides granular visibility that supports more accurate inventory management and operational planning, contributing to the company’s vision of a future with zero ULD losses.
As the air cargo industry continues to embrace digital transformation, tools like Super Sentinel demonstrate the potential for technology to deliver measurable efficiencies and cost savings while enhancing transparency, reliability, and customer satisfaction across global logistics networks.
