2 March 2026 – Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS company and the world’s largest air cargo handler, has finalized its acquisition of Aviapartner Cargo NV at Brussels Airport, following full regulatory approval. The deal significantly strengthens WFS’s service offerings in Belgium, expanding its capabilities to include full freighter ramp handling, towing, and airside transportation.
As part of the acquisition, over 200 Aviapartner Cargo employees will transition to WFS, further bolstering the company’s workforce and expertise at Brussels Airport.
Since establishing its Brussels operation in 1992, WFS has provided warehouse handling for more than 50 airlines across two facilities totaling nearly 30,000 m². The company also maintains a robust presence in Liège, offering both ramp and warehouse services for 12 airlines, alongside Cainiao, a global leader in e-commerce logistics.
Aviapartner has been a cornerstone of Brussels Airport’s cargo operations for 75 years, providing specialized warehousing for freight forwarders. With this acquisition, WFS now takes control of Aviapartner Cargo’s 33,000 m² terminal, featuring two dedicated pharmaceutical handling areas, a Phyto Sanitary inspection point, and specialized mail and courier processing facilities. Aviapartner will continue its ground handling operations for passenger airlines and executive/private aviation at the airport.
“This acquisition marks an important milestone for WFS in Belgium,” said Philippe Torry, WFS Managing Director Belgium. “By adding freighter and ramp handling capabilities, we are enhancing our operational capacity, expanding our customer base, and bringing in highly skilled personnel. This positions WFS to better serve both existing and new clients, while supporting continued growth in the Brussels market.”
The integration of Aviapartner Cargo’s facilities and expertise is expected to strengthen WFS’s product offering in Belgium, improving airside access and ramp handling while enhancing cargo transportation services for global airlines and logistics partners.
