Avianca Cargo has expanded its freighter operations with the addition of a newly converted A330P2F (Passenger-to-Freighter) aircraft, bringing its dedicated A330 freighter fleet to nine and enhancing the airline’s efficiency and flexibility on medium-range routes.

The new aircraft, offering over 60 tonnes of cargo capacity, complements Avianca Cargo’s existing fleet of six A330F and three A330P2F aircraft, including those operated in synergy with Avianca Cargo Mexico. The A330P2F’s advanced fuel efficiency, superior load volume, and range performance position Avianca Cargo to better meet the evolving needs of its customers while maintaining the highest standards of operational quality.

“At Avianca Cargo, we celebrate the expansion of our fleet and the arrival of the new A330P2F,” said Diogo Elias, CEO of Avianca Cargo. “This addition reaffirms our commitment to connectivity, operational excellence, and customer service. Today, we reach more than 350 destinations, expanding our network and strengthening our position as a strategic partner for our clients across the Americas and beyond.”

Driving Regional Trade and Infrastructure Growth

Avianca Cargo continues to play a pivotal role in Latin American trade, particularly as the leading air carrier for flower exports from Colombia and Ecuador. In 2025 alone, the airline has transported more than 100,000 tonnes of flowers to key markets including the United States, Europe, and Asia, maintaining its dominance in one of the region’s most valuable export sectors.

Within the framework of Proflora 2025, Avianca Cargo celebrated a record-breaking year for Colombia’s flower exports. The country achieved USD 2.35 billion in export value, marking 13 percent growth in value and 8 percent growth in volume — consolidating Colombia’s position as the world’s second-largest flower exporter.

“We’re proud to be a strategic ally to Colombia’s floriculture industry,” added Elias. “This year, we broke historical records in flower transport to the U.S., achieving 8 percent growth above the sector average — a clear sign of our operational strength and customer trust.”

Investing in Capacity, Quality, and Cold Chain Excellence

As part of its long-term investment strategy, Avianca Cargo has made significant infrastructure enhancements in its Medellín and Miami operations.

  • In Medellín, the airline inaugurated Jetflor, an 850-square-metre handling facility that increased cargo processing capacity by 50 percent.
  • In Miami, Avianca completed a major transformation of its cold-chain facility, improving temperature control, quality assurance, and storage efficiency — boosting cooler capacity by 83 percent.

These developments are part of Avianca Cargo’s broader effort to strengthen its end-to-end logistics capabilities, ensuring consistent service quality for time- and temperature-sensitive goods such as flowers, pharmaceuticals, and perishable exports.

Expanding Horizons

With a modernized fleet, an expanding network, and a renewed focus on innovation and customer service, Avianca Cargo continues to reinforce its role as a strategic logistics partner in Latin America’s air cargo ecosystem. The arrival of the A330P2F marks a new milestone in the airline’s commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and the seamless movement of goods that power global trade.
