Business integration strengthens operations in Austria, Poland and Slovakia, expanding regional logistics capabilities
cargo-partner, a member of Japan’s Nippon Express (NX) Group, has reached another significant milestone in its post-acquisition integration programme, announcing a series of strategic organisational changes across Slovakia, Poland and Austria. The latest developments are designed to strengthen regional cooperation, streamline operations and provide customers with access to an expanded logistics network across Central and Eastern Europe. The integration follows Nippon Express Holdings’ acquisition of cargo-partner in 2024, one of the largest transactions in the global freight forwarding sector.
The integration programme forms part of NX Group’s broader strategy to combine cargo-partner’s well-established European network with Nippon Express’ global logistics capabilities, creating a stronger platform for international air freight, ocean freight, road transport, rail logistics and contract logistics services.
“Our integration into NX Group continues to progress with a clear focus on creating value for our customers, our people and our partners,” said Luca Ferrara, Chief Executive Officer of cargo-partner.
“The latest milestones in Austria, Poland and Slovakia demonstrate how we are bringing together local expertise, stronger teams and a broader network in a practical and customer-oriented way. At the same time, we are ensuring continuity in day-to-day operations while building an even stronger platform for future growth in Central and Eastern Europe.”
Slovakia Adopts the NX Cargo-Partner Identity
In Slovakia, the integration entered a new phase on 1 July, with the official renaming of cargo-partner SR, s.r.o. to NX Cargo-Partner Slovakia, s.r.o. As part of the restructuring, the existing Nippon Express operation in Slovakia will be dissolved, with its employees joining the cargo-partner organisation from 1 August.
The Slovak operation offers a comprehensive logistics portfolio covering air, sea, road and rail freight, supported by warehousing and contract logistics services. During 2025, the company handled more than 45,000 shipments, underlining its importance within the regional network.
Poland Strengthens Regional Gateway
A similar integration process has been completed in Poland, where the transfer of the Nippon Express Poland team into cargo-partner Poland became effective on 1 July. From 1 August, the business will officially operate under the new name NX Cargo-Partner Poland Sp. z o.o.
With more than 25 years of experience in the Polish logistics market, the company manages over 96,000 shipments annually through a network of nine offices and three iLogistics Centres located in Warsaw, Żory and Poznań.
The Polish operation serves as an important logistics gateway linking Eastern and Western Europe, supported by direct Less-than-Container Load (LCL) sea freight services from Asia and extensive rail freight connections along the Iron Silk Road, providing customers with multimodal transport solutions across Eurasia.
Austria Consolidates Operations
In Austria, cargo-partner has completed the legal consolidation of its operations with Nippon Express (Deutschland) GmbH & Co. KG – Vienna Branch, creating a single legal entity operating as cargo-partner GmbH from 1 July.
The operational integration had already been completed in late 2025, when the Nippon Express team relocated to cargo-partner’s Vienna Airport headquarters. The legal merger now completes the organisational alignment within the Austrian market.
The Austrian business employs more than 500 logistics professionals and manages approximately 228,000 shipments annually. Alongside its extensive air freight activities, the operation also offers road, ocean freight and contract logistics solutions supported by advanced infrastructure, including a GDP-compliant pharmaceutical logistics centreand a state-of-the-art timber-built iLogistics Centre near Vienna.
The flagship logistics facility also features an AutoStore automated storage system, enabling highly efficient warehousing and order fulfilment for industries including pharmaceuticals, automotive, electronics and high-tech manufacturing.
Building a Stronger European Logistics Network
The latest integration milestones follow the successful consolidation of Hungary and Romania into the cargo-partner network earlier this year, reflecting NX Group’s broader roadmap to harmonise regional operations and strengthen cross-border collaboration throughout Europe.
For customers, the integration delivers access to a larger logistics network, expanded infrastructure, unified operational teams and broader multimodal transport capabilities across Central and Eastern Europe. It also enhances the group’s ability to offer seamless international freight forwarding solutions supported by local market expertise and global reach.
As global supply chains continue to evolve, the integration reinforces NX Group’s ambition to build one of the world’s most comprehensive logistics networks, combining cargo-partner’s regional strength with Nippon Express’ international footprint to better serve customers across the air cargo, contract logistics and multimodal transport sectors.
