- Additional intra-Asian and transpacific freighter connections
- Broader services in India and addition of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI)
- Seasonal capacity increases in North America to New York (JFK), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), and Houston (IAH)
- Larnaca (LCA) and Istanbul (IST) further integrated into the B777 freighter network
- Kuala Lumpur (KUL) newly added to belly cargo network
Lufthansa Cargo will introduce new intra-Asian connections, increase frequencies on selected North American routes and relocate its Mumbai freighter operations to Navi Mumbai International Airport as part of its 2026/2027 winter schedule.
The winter timetable, which takes effect on 25 October 2026, will offer customers 88 freighter routes serving 40 destinations worldwide. The airline is also expanding cargo capacity across the wider Lufthansa Group network, including new passenger-aircraft belly-hold connections to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The most significant change in India is the relocation of Lufthansa Cargo’s freighter operations from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI), effective 12 October. The move adds another airport to the carrier’s local network and is intended to maintain connections between the region’s industrial and manufacturing centres and international markets.
Navi Mumbai International Airport is located approximately 30km east of Mumbai’s existing international airport. The relocation comes amid infrastructure changes aimed at increasing capacity and operational efficiency at the established Mumbai gateway.
Lufthansa Cargo chief executive Ashwin Bhat described India as a strategically important growth market, highlighting the importance of reliable capacity and integration with the company’s global network.
Asia-Pacific capacity expands
Asia-Pacific remains a major focus of the winter schedule, with Lufthansa Cargo planning up to 46 weekly freighter rotations serving 17 destinations across the region.
A new intra-Asian connection will see Singapore added to the existing Frankfurt–Taipei freighter rotation, providing additional main-deck capacity and more routing options within Asia.
The carrier will also maintain the increased frequency on its transpacific route from Frankfurt via Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai to Los Angeles, operating two rotations per week. Additional Frankfurt services to Taipei and Chengdu will continue at three weekly frequencies each.
Cargo services between Frankfurt and Almaty, Kazakhstan, will also resume, restoring another connection to the carrier’s network.
The changes are designed to give freight forwarders greater flexibility across major Asian manufacturing and export markets, while supporting onward connections through Lufthansa Cargo’s European gateways.
More frequencies to North America
Lufthansa Cargo will increase capacity on three North American routes during the winter schedule, while retaining its existing network of 11 destinations in North America and four in South America.
Dallas/Fort Worth will rise to four weekly services, Houston to three and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport to five. Each destination will receive one additional weekly service.
The increases will provide additional capacity on key transatlantic links and improve shipment options for customers moving freight between North America and Europe.
European freighter network consolidates
Within Europe, Lufthansa Cargo will operate up to three weekly Boeing 777 freighter rotations serving up to three destinations.
Services from Frankfurt to Larnaca in Cyprus, Istanbul in Türkiye and Stavanger in Norway, which had been operated on a short-term basis, will become permanent elements of the regular schedule.
The routes previously served by Airbus A321 freighters will continue to receive coverage through long-haul freighters or the Lufthansa Group’s passenger network while the company seeks a new operator for its four short- and medium-haul freighters.
The changes follow adjustments to the group’s freighter operations and are intended to maintain cargo connectivity across the European network.
New belly-hold destinations
The wider Lufthansa Group network will also provide additional cargo options during the winter period.
Lufthansa Airlines will serve Kuala Lumpur five times per week, adding belly-hold capacity to the Malaysian capital. From November, ITA Airways will introduce two weekly services to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
In India, SWISS WorldCargo will add Bengaluru to its network from Zurich, providing shippers in southern India with another connection to a major European hub.
Lufthansa Cargo will continue marketing cargo capacity aboard passenger flights operated by Lufthansa Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, ITA Airways, Lufthansa City Airlines and SunExpress, alongside its dedicated freighter services.
Bhat said the company would continue adjusting its network to reflect changing customer requirements and trade flows. The winter schedule will provide access to approximately 7,500 weekly flights serving 350 destinations through six European hubs: Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Brussels, Rome and Zurich.
Freight bookings for the winter schedule opened on 4 October, 21 days before the timetable takes effect on 25 October 2026.
