Awery Aviation Software has appointed air cargo executive Gianluca Marcangelo as Executive Vice President of Global Sales, as the company seeks to expand its customer base and strengthen its commercial presence worldwide.
Marcangelo joins Awery with more than 25 years of international air cargo experience spanning sales, marketing, operations, digital innovation and aviation software. He has held senior positions across airlines, cargo operators and aviation technology companies, including leadership roles with Challenge Group and Oman Air.
Focus On Digital Transformation
Marcangelo said the air cargo industry is undergoing a significant digital transformation, driven by artificial intelligence, increased connectivity and standards such as IATA ONE Record.
“Air cargo is at a pivotal point in its digital transformation, as AI, greater connectivity, and standards such as IATA ONE Record change how companies operate and do business,” Marcangelo said.
He added that Awery’s combination of technology, industry expertise and agility could help customers translate digital developments into practical commercial and operational benefits.
Marcangelo said he would work closely with customers and industry stakeholders to identify areas where technology can deliver the greatest impact, while supporting Awery’s international expansion.
Expanding Awery’s Customer Base
Awery said its growth strategy includes expanding its customer base among airlines, general sales and service agents (GSSAs) and charter brokers.
The company also serves a wider range of air cargo operators, including onboard courier (OBC) providers and e-commerce businesses. Awery’s aviation software portfolio includes business management and automation tools covering areas such as sales, operations, finance and customer service.
Tristan Koch, Chief Commercial Officer at Awery, said Marcangelo’s combination of operational knowledge and commercial experience would support the company’s efforts to expand its technology offering and strengthen existing partnerships.
“Gianluca understands both the operational realities of air cargo and how technology can help businesses become more efficient and commercially successful,” Koch said.
Marcangelo To Attend Liège Industry Forum
Marcangelo is scheduled to join Awery Founder and Chief Executive Officer Vitaly Smilianets at the EU Cross-Border E-commerce Forum in Liège, Belgium, from September 8–10, 2026.
The event will provide an opportunity for Awery’s leadership team to engage with industry stakeholders as the company continues to focus on digitalisation and the evolving requirements of cross-border e-commerce and air cargo operations.
