Conroute Logistics, sister company of Swedish firm and U-Freight Group (UFL) partner Conroute Air & Sea, has achieved AEO-F accreditation.

The European Union AEO scheme is co-ordinated by the World Customs Organisation. By meeting AEO standards, businesses are issued with a quality mark that shows their internal controls, staff training and procedures are effective and compliant.

Cargo transported by AEO accredited firms is less likely to be pulled by customs and enjoys an expedited process.

Eva Westling, branch manager of Stockholm-Arlanda, who played a key role in Conroute Logistics’ accreditation process, commented: “We will see tangible benefits of the AEO accreditation including fewer physical and documentary examinations of cargo, priority use of non-intrusive inspection techniques when examination is required, priority processing by customs whenever security is heightened and ‘Preferred Trader’ eligibility.”

Other companies in the U-Freight network that have achieved AEO accreditation include: U-Freight Holland, as well as U-Freight’s Spanish (Tracosa) and German (Alpha trans Luft- und Seefrachtspedition) partners.

U-Freight America is also validated under the US Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) programme.

Simon Wong, chief executive of U-Freight Group, explained: “For UFL, supply chain security remains a number one priority, both for our own subsidiaries and for our exclusive partner network around the world.

“Authorised economic operators in the EU, such as our Dutch subsidiary, and Swedish, Spanish and German partners, will receive benefits when trading internationally.”
