German logistics group DACHSER is strengthening its air and sea freight forwarding presence in North America through a 10% minority investment in Canadian logistics provider Synergie Canada.
The investment is intended to expand DACHSER’s position in the Canadian market and strengthen connections between North America and its international forwarding network, particularly on trade lanes linking Canada with Europe.
Tobias Burger, chief operating officer, Air & Sea Logistics at DACHSER, described Canada as an attractive market for the group as it continues to expand beyond Europe.

“Canada is a highly attractive market for a global logistics provider like DACHSER,” Burger said. “Expanding our presence in the Canadian market by acquiring a minority share of Synergie is essential for the continued growth of our business outside Europe.”
Synergie adds Canadian market reach
Founded in 2008 and headquartered near Montreal, Quebec, Synergie Canada provides international air and sea freight forwarding services, with particular expertise in transatlantic and transpacific movements.
The company serves customers across sectors including engineering, technology, fashion and aerospace. Its portfolio also includes road transportation within Canada and cross-border trucking services connecting Canada with the US.
According to the transaction announcement, Synergie Canada generated approximately €60 million in revenue in 2025 and employed around 100 people.
The investment gives DACHSER a minority position while allowing Synergie Canada to continue operating as an established Canadian logistics provider.
Marc-André Guindon, president of Synergie Canada, said the partnership would support the company’s next stage of development.
“Synergie Canada has grown rapidly in the 15 years since it was founded, evolving from a traditional overland transport forwarder into one of Canada’s leading logistics providers for international air and sea freight,” Guindon said.
“Together with DACHSER, we can now take the next step in our development and offer our customers even better access to international markets, particularly in Europe.”
Expanding beyond Europe
The transaction forms part of DACHSER’s strategy to strengthen its global Air & Sea Logistics network and develop its presence in markets outside its European home base.
DACHSER has continued to invest in its international forwarding network in recent years. Its global expansion has included acquisitions and partnerships in markets including Australia, New Zealand and Asia, as the company seeks to provide customers with more integrated international logistics services.
The group reported revenue of approximately €8.3 billion for 2025, up 3.1% year on year, while handling 86.2 million shipments and 46.7 million tonnes of cargo. DACHSER said it plans to invest more than €350 million in 2026 in its network, employees, digitalisation and other strategic initiatives.
The Canadian investment gives the group an additional platform in a market closely connected to both the US and European economies.
Burger said Synergie Canada represented a strong fit for DACHSER’s expansion plans and welcomed the company as a partner for developing its Canadian activities.
Air and ocean freight growth
Synergie Canada’s established focus on international air and ocean freight provides DACHSER with additional local expertise in a market where cross-border trade plays a central role in supply-chain activity.
The company’s existing service portfolio includes international air freight, ocean freight and over-the-road transportation, giving customers options for moving cargo between Canada, the US and overseas markets.
Synergie Canada’s website currently highlights its air, ocean and over-the-road freight capabilities, including international forwarding and cross-border transportation.
For DACHSER, the minority investment also creates scope to combine Synergie Canada’s local market knowledge with its wider global network, potentially giving customers improved access to European and other international markets.
The transaction comes as logistics providers continue to build more resilient and geographically diversified forwarding networks amid changing trade patterns and demand for integrated multimodal services.
DACHSER’s investment in Synergie Canada therefore represents a further step in the group’s internationalisation strategy, strengthening its North American footprint while adding local expertise to its global air and sea freight operations.
