Equitrans Logistics has successfully coordinated the transport of 55 competition horses for the Abu Dhabi leg of the Longines League of Nations, reinforcing its reputation as a specialist in high-value live animal logistics.
The operation involved two dedicated long-haul charter flights from Amsterdam to Dubai World Central (DWC) on 7 and 8 February, using Boeing 777 freighters. The flights carried horses representing ten national teams, including Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United States.
In addition to the airlift, Equitrans is managing the road transportation of 35 horses from Sharjah to Abu Dhabi, supporting additional international classes running alongside the main competition. Following the conclusion of the event, coordinated departures are scheduled for 16 February, which will again use two Boeing 777 freighters to return the horses to Europe.
This marks the third consecutive year that Equitrans Logistics has been contracted by the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation to handle horse transport for the prestigious event.
In a joint statement, David Robson, Managing Director, and Ryan Azzie, Operations Manager at Equitrans Logistics, emphasised the precision required for large-scale equine logistics.
“Events of this scale demand meticulous planning and absolute precision,” they said. “From coordinating the charter flights to managing the road transport, our focus is always on efficiency, welfare and reliability.”
Mohammed Al Nakhi, Showjumping Committee Manager of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, praised the partnership.
“The movement of horses for an event of this scale requires a company with experience and consistency at the highest level. We’re delighted to partner with Equitrans once again,” he said.
Equitrans’ operation highlights the increasing sophistication of specialised live animal transport in the global air cargo sector, where welfare, safety, and operational reliability remain paramount.
