Global logistics firm Geodis has been selected by the French government to organize the emergency supply of up to 1bn masks from China to France to help protect health workers during the coronavirus outbreak.
In response to requests from national authorities, Geodis has arranged 16 flights over the coming weeks, utilising Antonov 124 aircraft, to transport 2,400 m cu of capacity per week. The flight schedule may be extended to May, if the virus outbreak persists
Yesterday (March 30), the first charter departed from Shenzhen Airport in China carrying 8.5m masks to Paris-Vatry airport. A second flight carrying 13m more medical masks is scheduled to depart from China later this week.
Geodis has a presence in 67 countries and more than 1,700 employees in China.
