LOT Polish Airlines and its India GSSA, Group Concorde, have transported 53.5 tonnes of cargo on a single cargo-only Dreamliner Boeing 787-9 flight from Delhi to Warsaw.

Cargo on the flight, which took place on October 18, was carried in the bellyhold, on the seats and in the overhead lockers — and exceeded Group Concorde’s previous cargo weight record carried on the same aircraft type: 47,167 kg, which was flown on October 11.

Pharmaceutical products were transported on the flight, as well as automobile parts which added to the overall cargo weight.

Prompted by the Covid-19 outbreak, LOT Polish Airlines has been operating cargo-only PAX flights from Delhi, India, since May this year.“We acknowledge the great efforts of [the] LOT Cargo team along with airport authorities and ground handling agents who have achieved this milestone by excellent load planning,” Group Concorde said in a LinkedIn post.

“The team has set an example of excellent team spirit, complete dedication and commitment, especially during this challenging pandemic.” It added: “We want to thank LOT Polish Airlines management for having faith in Group Concorde and all the stakeholders for their continuous support to make this cargo operation successful. We assure you that the Group Concorde team will remain committed to serve you with excellence and deliver our best services all the time.”

Prithviraj Singh Chug, director, Group Concorde said, “The flight had lots of automobile parts as well as pharmaceutical goods of shippers around the national capital region which made the single flight heavy.” The freight occupied the belly space, on-seats as well as overhead bins of the aircraft for maximum utilisation of space.
