Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry Services Limited (Hacis), the logistics arm of Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl), has extended its SuperLink China Direct road feeder network to Vietnam, creating a new air-road intermodal option connecting Vietnamese shippers with Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) through mainland China.
The expansion extends a service that has traditionally provided scheduled, Customs-bonded road feeder connections between HKIA and destinations in mainland China. Hacis said the Vietnam extension is expected to generate additional import and export cargo flows through Hong Kong while giving shippers and freight forwarders greater routing flexibility.
Pilot Shipment Successfully Completed
The new Vietnam connection has already completed a trial under Hong Kong’s Single E-lock Scheme.

Hacis worked with Vietnamese logistics company U&I Logistics Corporation on the pilot shipment, which travelled by truck from Vietnam to Wuzhou in mainland China before continuing to Hong Kong through Hacis’ Customs-bonded road feeder network.
The trial demonstrates the intended model: cargo can move by road from Vietnam through mainland China to HKIA before connecting to international air services from Hong Kong.
Hacis said the arrangement provides a more integrated logistics solution for Vietnamese businesses and overseas shippers seeking access to international markets through Hong Kong.
Expanding Hong Kong’s Regional Cargo Reach
The Vietnam extension represents the first expansion of the SuperLink China Direct intermodal network beyond mainland China.
Ringo Chan, Executive Director of Hacis, said the service had become an established cross-boundary logistics solution connecting Hong Kong with mainland China and that extending the network to Vietnam could strengthen Hong Kong’s regional connectivity.
Chan said the model could potentially be extended to other parts of Asia in the future, while providing customers with additional routing options and greater flexibility.
Hacis already operates Customs-bonded scheduled road feeder services between HKIA and mainland China. The company describes SuperLink China Direct as an air-road intermodal solution designed to extend the reach of airlines and freight forwarders using Hong Kong as their international air cargo gateway.
New Options for Vietnamese Shippers
For Vietnamese exporters and importers, the service provides an alternative to relying exclusively on direct air or ocean transportation.
Nguyen Xuan Phuc, CEO of U&I Logistics Corporation, described the initiative as a new logistics route for Vietnamese businesses, combining road transport through mainland China and Hong Kong with onward access to international air cargo services.
He said the arrangement could provide greater flexibility and additional transportation options for businesses while supporting trade between Vietnam, mainland China and Hong Kong.
The model could be particularly relevant for shipments requiring faster transit than traditional ocean freight but where a full origin-to-destination airfreight movement may not be the preferred solution.
Supporting HKIA Cargo Growth
Hacis expects the expanded service to bring additional cargo flows through HKIA, creating potential opportunities for airlines, freight forwarders and other logistics providers operating through the Hong Kong gateway.
The use of Customs-bonded road feeder services is intended to simplify the cross-border movement of air cargo, while the Single E-lock Scheme provides an electronic security mechanism for shipments moving across the relevant borders.
Hacis has operated SuperLink China Direct for many years as part of its broader logistics offering. Its established network connects HKIA with mainland Chinese markets through scheduled Customs-bonded road services.
Air-Road Connectivity Across Asia
The Vietnam expansion comes as logistics providers increasingly develop multimodal solutions designed to combine road and air transport across Asian manufacturing and distribution markets.
For Hacis, the extension provides a way to connect Vietnam’s growing manufacturing base with the extensive international air cargo network available through Hong Kong, without requiring shippers to rely solely on direct air capacity from Vietnam.
The company said the new service will provide a more seamless and secure logistics option while strengthening cargo connectivity between Vietnam, Hong Kong and global markets.
With the pilot operation completed, Hacis can now build on the Vietnam connection and explore further opportunities to extend its intermodal network across Asia, potentially broadening the cargo catchment area served through HKIA.
