Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) – Hong Kong’s largest independent cargo handler – has been named Ground Handler of the Year and was also awarded highly commended in the Air Cargo Environment and Innovation Award – Product categories at the 2026 Air Cargo News Awards. The results were announced at the prestigious annual awards ceremony held in London.

The Air Cargo News Awards recognise outstanding achievements of the air cargo industry – from innovative solutions for complex transport challenges to investments in new technologies, services and innovations. For each category, entrants are required to submit an entry outlining their achievements over the previous 12 months. Submissions are then evaluated by an independent panel of industry experts using a rigorous and robust process.
Hactl was named Ground Handler of the Year for the second consecutive year, reaffirming its position as a global benchmark for excellence in air cargo handling. Its award-winning submission showcased improved customer ratings, Hong Kong’s first private 5G-enabled air cargo terminal, the application of operational intelligence and AI, greater automation across terminal operations, the development of the world’s first lab-validated 100% closed-loop post-consumer recycled (PCR) cargo film, and Hactl Think Park, its future-focused training and development centre.
In the Air Cargo Environment category, Hactl demonstrated how sustainability is embedded across its operations, including the application of renewable diesel, the BEAM Plus Platinum-rated Hactl Think Park, its Zero-Waste Uniform Upcycling Project and the Green Terminal Pact.
The successful development of the world’s first 100% closed-loop PCR cargo film also earned Hactl recognition in the Innovation Award – Product category, with the solution potentially diverting 700 tonnes of plastic waste annually and reducing lifecycle carbon emissions by up to 63%.
Receiving the awards in London, Hactl Chief Executive, Frosti Lau, said: “On behalf of the entire Hactl team, we are delighted to receive these highly respected awards. This recognition reflects the dedication and hard work of our team, as well as our continued commitment to service excellence, sustainability and innovation. We sincerely thank Air Cargo News and the judging panel for these honours.”
