The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released findings from a survey of cargo industry participants to assess industry awareness, readiness, and support needs for the implementation of ONE Record as the preferred data-sharing standard for air cargo from 1 January 2026. Top line findings show significant levels of awareness and readiness among respondents with:

  • Over 70% showing awareness of ONE Record among respondents, and
  • Nearly 50% indicating readiness.

The survey also indicated expectations of stakeholders for continued IATA support of the initiative in several key areas:

  • 78% welcoming more pilots and demonstrations
  • 75% seeking additional peer examples and shared learning, and
  • 80% asking for regular communication and guidance on the topic.

Keeping these expressed needs in mind, IATA will continue to support ONE Record adoption by:

  • Expanding participation in ONE Record pilots
  • Providing training, webinars, and certification opportunities
  • Sharing best practices and implementation examples, and
  • Working with regulators and IT service providers to help align adoption efforts.

“The message from the air cargo industry is clear: stakeholders are moving decisively toward ONE Record as the preferred data-sharing standard and are looking to IATA for even stronger support as adoption accelerates. In the coming months, we will expand opportunities to participate in ONE Record pilots and strengthen our adoption guidance for industry partners. At the same time, we will work closely with regulators and IT providers to ensure the alignment needed for ONE Record to modernize air cargo processes and deliver greater value to customers,” said Brendan Sullivan, IATA’s Global Head of Cargo.

ONE Record Adoption –

The ONE Record standard delivers a single, consistent digital language for air cargo, enabling all partners to connect and exchange data more effectively. It supports greater transparency and collaboration across the supply chain, reduces manual processes to increase efficiency and scalability, and provides a modern data foundation that enables future innovations such as automation and ensures long-term future-readiness.

More than 30 pilot projects are currently active worldwide. Examples include:

  • Cathay Pacific: Using ONE Record for eAWB submission, shipment tracking, and customs status updates.
  • CHAMP: Enabling real-time booking pre-advice between airlines and ground handlers via ONE Record.
  • Turkish Cargo: Implementing shipment-level ONE Record tracking for all cargo transported or processed.
  • Shandong Airlines: Using ONE Record to support digital booking exchanges with freight forwarders.
  • Korean Air & GLS-KR: Automating the creation of shipment records from CCS data through ONE Record.
  • Schenker, Riege & Lufthansa: Delivering end-to-end ONE Record tracking from the freight forwarder’s TMS to airline systems.
  • Cathay, Intel, Time Matters & PACTL: Using ONE Record data for piece-level export processing.

“ONE Record is helping the industry move beyond fragmented, document-heavy processes toward a fully digital and connected way of working. With more than 30 pilots underway—from eAWB automation to real-time tracking and booking exchanges—we are already seeing ONE Record’s value with greater transparency, and improved efficiency,” said Sullivan.
