In a first for Korean Air, the carrier has announced that it has connected its cargo booking system with DHL Global Forwarding.
In a statement from the Korean flag carrier on March 26, 2024, the airline confirmed that DHL was the first freight forwarder it had used to provide the service.
The integration will allow DHL Global Forwarding to book cargo on Korean Air flights directly from its in-house system without the need to access the airline’s platform.
“This integration enhances workflow efficiency by enabling real-time data exchange between airlines and customers, facilitating easier access to flight schedules and air cargo rates,” Korean Air said.
Korean Air is looking for ways to improve efficiency by using the industry’s ongoing digital transformation, while also making life easier for its customers.
“In establishing direct connectivity with a prominent customer like DHL Global Forwarding, we are able to offer advanced services,” said Jaedong Eum, Senior Vice President and Head of Cargo Business Division at Korean Air. “Looking ahead, we are dedicated to exploring innovative channels to extend our system connections, enhancing our service offerings for an even broader clientele.”
Korean Air’s current fleet of freighters includes the Boeing 747-8F, 747-400F and the 777F while it also provides cargo service on its passenger jets.

Korean Air announced on March 21, 2024, that it has signed an order for 33 new Airbus A350 family widebody aircraft.
