LATAM Airlines Group exceeded 200 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines transported free of charge within Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Perú. The initiative is part of LATAM’s “Solidarity Plane” program, which provides LATAM’s connectivity and passenger and cargo transport capacity for the benefit of South America.

“The dramatic situation of the pandemic made us think about how to help.  We decided to make ourselves available, in our role of connecting and transporting, to contribute to the communities where we operate.  We have been working to overcome the pandemic for a year and nine months, and it is with great pride and thanks to the efforts of all our collaborators that we exceed 200 million vaccines transported free of charge today.  We will remain committed and available to support the well-being of the people of South America ”, said Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines Group.

In addition to the transport of vaccines, more than 1,860 organs and tissues have been mobilized in South America; 3,323 health professionals to attend urgent COVID-19-related needs; 657 patients with urgent medical needs; 17 transports of stem cells for blood cancer patients; and more than 1,100 tons of cargo, considering medical supplies and vaccines.

The “Solidarity Plane” program consists of three areas of action: health, environmental and natural disasters. Recently, the program announced new alliances with solidarity organizations and civil societies in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Perú, making the expertise, infrastructure, connectivity and speed of air transport available to the institutions in agreement free of charge through tickets and cargo transfer.
