Magma Aviation expands its footprint in the Middle East

Magma Aviation, an air cargo solutions company, has expanded its global footprint with a new office in Dubai and additional Airbus and Boeing aircraft added to its fleet.

UK-headquartered freighter firm Magma Aviation is expanding its presence to the Middle East with the addition of two aircraft and a new office.

The two converted freighters are an Airbus A321-200 (YL-LDZ) and a Boeing 737-800, while the new office is in Dubai.

The company said it was one of the few cargo operators with access to both A321P2F and 737-800BCF capabilities.

Magma has previously specialised in the operation of widebody freighters.

Its fleet previously consisted of three Boeing 747-400 freighters operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic on services from Europe to Africa, the US, Middle East, India and Hong Kong.

The Avia Solutions-owned company said the two aircraft would be based in the UAE and would address growing cargo demand in the region.

The A321P2F will be operated by sister company SmartLynx Airlines and the 737-800 will be operated by sister company Air Explore.

The new office will be headed up by Audrone Keinyte in the role of director of Magma Aviation Dubai.

She joins from former sister company Bluebird Nordic, which earlier this year ended its freighter operations and returned its AOC to the Icelandic Civil Aviation Administration.

Bluebird formerly had three Boeing 737-400, three Boeing 737-800 and one Boeing 777-200 in its fleet, many leased from sister company AviaAM Leasing.

Keinyte said: “The two new narrowbody aircraft we have added to our fleet significantly strengthen our existing capacity, contributing a range of 5,500km between them.”

“This, alongside our new office situated in Dubai, means we now have a valuable operational base outside of Europe, which is already proving to be beneficial for our clients in the Middle East and nearby regions.

“We are delighted to expand upon our already extensive geographical coverage, growing our offering in line with customer demand and ensuring we can provide our industry-leading air cargo services in all corners of the globe.”
