Markus Panhauser will assume the role of Chief Executive of DHL Global Forwarding Germany and Switzerland starting July 1. Panhauser succeeds Tobias Schmidt, who has led these country organizations alongside his responsibilities as Chief Executive of DHL Global Forwarding Europe since November 2021. Schmidt will now focus exclusively on his European leadership role.
Panhauser joined DHL in 2020 as Head of Ocean Freight, bringing with him extensive experience from various global logistics companies. During his tenure, he significantly enhanced the performance of the European Ocean Freight business, leading to a notable increase in profitability.
“We are convinced that Markus Panhauser, with his expertise in the freight forwarding business, will contribute to further expanding DHL Global Forwarding’s market share in the crucial markets of Germany and Switzerland, and strengthen the organization in both countries for the future,” said Tim Scharwath, Chief Executive of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight.
Scharwath also praised Schmidt’s contributions: “Tobias Schmidt has done an outstanding job and will now fully focus on his role as Chief Executive of DHL Global Forwarding Europe. His experience and dedication have significantly contributed to the success of DHL Global Forwarding in Germany and Switzerland, leaving behind highly successful organizations for his successor.”
In a related move, Barbara Eleota will take over as Head of Ocean Freight for DHL Global Forwarding Europe on August 1. She joins from DB Schenker and brings over 25 years of experience in the logistics sector.
This leadership transition aims to bolster DHL Global Forwarding’s operations and market presence in Europe, ensuring continued growth and innovation in the logistics industry.
