Global aviation services provider appoints new chief executive and non-executive chairman to lead the next phase of international growth.
Menzies Aviation has announced a significant leadership transition, with Group Chief Executive Officer Philipp Joeinig stepping down after five years at the helm. The global aviation services provider confirmed that Joeinig will leave the company on 31 July, with Hassan El-Houry appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer and Ehab Azizassuming the role of Non-Executive Chairman.
The appointments mark the beginning of a new leadership chapter for Menzies as the company continues to expand its global footprint and strengthen its position as one of the world’s largest aviation services providers.
Philipp Joeinig Concludes Five Years of Leadership
Joeinig joined the Menzies Board in 2017 before being appointed Group CEO in 2020, leading the company through one of the most transformative periods in the aviation industry’s history.
During his tenure, Menzies expanded its international operations, strengthened its market position and successfully navigated the challenges facing the aviation sector while driving long-term business growth.
The Board acknowledged Joeinig’s leadership and his contribution to the company’s expansion and strategic development over the past several years.
Ehab Aziz Appointed Non-Executive Chairman
Taking over as Non-Executive Chairman, Ehab Aziz brings more than 25 years of international business experience with Agility, where he has led numerous acquisitions, investments and business expansion initiatives.
Aziz has served as a Non-Executive Director of Menzies Aviation since 2022 and will now oversee the Board’s governance responsibilities while supporting the executive leadership team in delivering the company’s long-term strategic objectives.
Commenting on his appointment, Aziz said Menzies enters its next phase from a position of strength, supported by a clear strategy, an experienced leadership team and strong operational foundations.
He emphasized that the Board will remain focused on maintaining high standards of governance, supporting investment in people and customers, and creating sustainable long-term value for shareholders.
Hassan El-Houry Takes the Helm
Incoming Chief Executive Officer Hassan El-Houry brings more than two decades of experience in aviation services and airport operations.
Before joining Menzies, El-Houry led the growth of National Aviation Services (NAS), transforming the company from a single-station operation into one of the leading aviation services providers across emerging markets.
He also played a key role in Agility’s acquisition of Menzies Aviation in 2022 and the subsequent integration of NAS with Menzies, creating what the company describes as the world’s largest aviation services provider.
Since the acquisition, El-Houry has served as Executive Chairman of Menzies Aviation, helping shape the company’s strategic direction while overseeing a period of strong financial performance and international expansion. He also serves as Chairman of the Aviation Services Association (ASA World).
