PrimeFlight Cargo has been appointed as the cargo handling agent for Alaska Airlines’ upcoming daily nonstop service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and London Heathrow (LHR), set to launch on 21 May 2026. The company will provide comprehensive cargo support from its LHR X2 Unit, including acceptance, build and break, and full airside transportation services.
The appointment underscores PrimeFlight’s expanding presence in Europe and its capability to support widebody cargo operations. In addition to Heathrow, PrimeFlight will commence cargo handling for Alaska Airlines at Sacramento International Airport (SMF) in California starting in April, further extending its U.S. operations.
PrimeFlight has a long-standing partnership with Alaska Airlines, providing ground handling services at eleven U.S. airports following its acquisition of GAT Airline Ground Support. Its cargo handling network for Alaska currently includes John Glenn Columbus International (CMH), Milwaukee Mitchell International (MKE), Eppley Airfield/Omaha Airport (OMA), Ontario International (ONT), San Diego International (SAN), and John Wayne Airport (SNA).
The selection for LHR comes as part of PrimeFlight’s ongoing investment in personnel, equipment, and infrastructure at its European operations to meet growing cargo demand. The company’s global portfolio includes ground handling, cargo handling, fueling, aircraft services, GSE maintenance, deicing, terminal services, and general aviation support.
Alaska Airlines’ cargo network spans more than 100 destinations across North America, Asia, and the Pacific, with additional cargo services in key European markets such as London and Rome. The Seattle-London route will provide a strategic transatlantic link for both passenger and cargo operations, enhancing capacity for time-sensitive freight between the U.S. West Coast and Europe.
The collaboration demonstrates the airline’s confidence in PrimeFlight’s operational reliability and customer-focused service model, positioning the handler to support seamless cargo operations for Alaska’s expanding international network.
