Qatar Airways Cargo, the world’s leading air cargo carrier, has just unveiled a groundbreaking addition to its service portfolio: the AEROSPACE product. Specifically designed for the aviation, defense, and space technology sectors, AEROSPACE offers an advanced, tailor-made solution for the transportation of time-critical aerospace parts and components.

This new service is set to change the game for the logistics needs of the aerospace industry, providing a swift, secure, and highly supervised logistics process for parts that are essential to the fast-paced and high-stakes world of aerospace. From commercial aircraft engines to avionics and electric propulsion equipment, the AEROSPACE product ensures that critical shipments are handled with the utmost care and urgency.

One of the standout features of AEROSPACE is the introduction of bespoke, shock-absorbing engine transport dollies at Qatar Airways Cargo’s hub in Doha. These custom-built dollies are capable of carrying some of the largest engines in the industry, such as the Rolls Royce Trent 7000 and GEnx-2B engines, with a weight capacity of up to 20,000kg. This development positions Qatar Airways Cargo as the only carrier in the world to offer this level of specialized engine transport capability.

The aerospace industry faces a unique challenge when it comes to Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations – a critical issue that occurs when an aircraft must remain grounded due to mechanical failures or equipment malfunctions. In these moments, having fast and reliable access to essential parts is crucial for minimizing costly downtime. With the rise in global travel, cargo demand, and the expansion of aerospace industries, the need for quick and secure delivery of time-sensitive components is more pressing than ever.

This is where AEROSPACE steps in. The service is designed not only for traditional AOG shipments like engines and spares but also covers a broad range of essential components, from airframe interiors to landing gear, helping to support aerospace manufacturers, freight forwarders, and airlines in overcoming the growing demand for time-critical parts.

Mark Drusch, Chief Officer Cargo at Qatar Airways, highlighted the urgency that the aerospace industry faces, saying, “Time is money! In aviation, every hour of downtime translates to lost revenue or increased costs. Safety, speed, and precision are vital, and that’s exactly what AEROSPACE delivers – a solution designed to get those crucial parts where they need to be, when they need to be there.”

AEROSPACE is now available across the entire Qatar Airways Cargo network, offering priority loading, a dedicated handling team, and Control Tower support to guarantee the rapid and seamless processing of aerospace shipments. Additionally, Qatar Airways Cargo’s global fleet, including 28 Boeing 777 freighters and 230 passenger aircraft, ensures fast and efficient transport, with tail-to-tail transfers as quick as 4 hours.

This service will not only support commercial aviation but also extend to the defense and space technology sectors, reinforcing Qatar Airways Cargo’s commitment to being the logistics leader for all aerospace-related products.

“Our new AEROSPACE product will establish us as the number one logistics expert for every type of aerospace product, from commercial aviation to space technologies,” Drusch added. “With our advanced in-house screening techniques and highly skilled team, your AEROSPACE shipments are in the best hands and will be delivered quickly and safely.”

As the aerospace industry continues to grow and evolve, Qatar Airways Cargo is stepping up to meet its demands with precision, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to fast and reliable service.
