Royal Air Maroc Cargo has further strengthened its African air freight network with the launch of a new dedicated freighter service linking Casablanca, Morocco, with Dakar, Senegal. The weekly service, operated every Friday using a Boeing 767 freighter with a payload capacity of 45 tonnes, reinforces the airline’s role as a strategic connector between North and West Africa.
The new Casablanca–Dakar (CMN–DSS) route expands Royal Air Maroc Cargo’s growing freighter network, which already includes Brussels with three weekly flights, Istanbul with two, and West African destinations Bamako and Ouagadougou with two flights each. Together, these services form a robust regional cargo backbone that complements the airline’s extensive passenger and belly-hold network across Africa, Europe, the Americas and Asia.
In addition to its dedicated B767 freighter operations, Royal Air Maroc Cargo offers daily cargo capacity on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Boeing 737 fleets, providing customers with flexible and efficient solutions for both intra-African and intercontinental shipments. Central to this operation is the Casablanca hub at Mohammed V International Airport, which features an annual handling capacity of 200,000 tonnes and specialised infrastructure for perishables, pharmaceuticals and high-value cargo. The hub enables seamless onward connections to more than 30 destinations across Africa.
Rita Chraibi, Vice President Cargo at Royal Air Maroc, said: “This new freighter route marks another milestone in our long-term vision to reinforce Africa’s logistics ecosystem and bring markets closer together. Senegal is one of West Africa’s most dynamic economies, and our dedicated Casablanca–Dakar service directly addresses customer demand for reliability, capacity and speed, while supporting our ambition to build sustainable and efficient air bridges across the continent.”
Royal Air Maroc Cargo operates scheduled direct services to more than 80 destinations worldwide, including freighter-operated routes. Its global reach is further enhanced through interline agreements with partner airlines and strategic collaborations with trucking service providers, extending connectivity beyond the carrier’s own network.
The launch of the Dakar freighter service follows a series of recent network expansions, including routes to Beijing, São Paulo and Toronto, underlining Royal Air Maroc Cargo’s strategy to consolidate its leadership position in Africa while facilitating stronger trade flows between the continent and global markets.
