The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) announced the launch of two new educational initiatives — the TIACA Reading Room and TIACA Future Thinkers — designed to strengthen intellectual engagement and spotlight emerging talent within the global air cargo ecosystem. Both platforms are scheduled to go live in the second quarter of the year and reflect TIACA’s commitment to bridging the gap between industry experience and forward‑looking research.
The announcements were made as part of TIACA’s ongoing efforts to support professional development, foster thought leadership, and encourage deeper dialogue on the forces shaping the future of air cargo, aviation, logistics and sustainability.
TIACA Reading Room: A Digital Library of Industry Insight
The TIACA Reading Room will serve as a centralised digital hub for literature and publications that illuminate key issues and developments within the industry. According to TIACA, the platform is “built on the belief that knowledge shared becomes wisdom gained,” and aims to highlight books and written contributions from industry thought leaders, academics and researchers.
Users will find a curated and growing catalogue of relevant titles, complete with author biographies, summaries, categorisation by theme, and direct links for access or purchase. The collection will span topics such as air cargo operations, aviation economics, sustainability, digitisation, supply chain strategy and logistics development, offering a comprehensive resource for professionals seeking context, analysis and historical perspective.
Industry authors are also invited to submit their published works for inclusion, allowing the Reading Room to evolve into a living library that chronicles the ongoing development of air cargo expertise and strategic thinking.
By offering a single destination for authoritative content, TIACA aims to equip stakeholders at all stages of their careers with the insights necessary to navigate complex market dynamics and operational challenges.
TIACA Future Thinkers: Spotlight on Emerging Research and Talent
Complementing the Reading Room, TIACA Future Thinkers is a new section of the association’s website dedicated to showcasing graduate and postgraduate research relevant to air cargo, sustainability, digitisation and logistics. The initiative recognises that innovation often emerges from fresh perspectives and that the industry benefits from giving voice to tomorrow’s problem solvers.
The Future Thinkers platform will feature profiles of selected students and recent graduates, including summaries of their research projects, background information and links to their work. By amplifying academic contributions, TIACA aims to foster stronger connections between industry practitioners, academia and emerging talent, offering companies direct insight into innovative thinking and future‑focused solutions.
TIACA Chair Roos Bakker emphasised the complementary nature of the two initiatives: “The Reading Room honours the experience and insight that have shaped air cargo over decades, while Future Thinkers ensures we are listening to the new voices that will define what comes next. Strong industries are built on both legacy and fresh perspectives.”
Leadership Perspectives and Strategic Impact
TIACA Director General Glyn Hughes, who recently announced his retirement, described the initiatives as foundational tools for enhancing intellectual exchange across the air cargo sector. “With the Reading Room, we are creating a home for industry intelligence and thought leadership. Through Future Thinkers, we are opening the door for emerging talent to step into the global conversation,” Hughes said.
He added that both platforms will help strengthen the bridge between academia and industry, ensuring that innovation remains central to air cargo’s evolution in an era defined by digital transformation, sustainability imperatives and shifting global trade patterns.
A Hub for Continuous Learning and Connection
By launching the TIACA Reading Room and TIACA Future Thinkers, the association is broadening its role beyond advocacy and networking, positioning itself as a knowledge centre for air cargo professionals. As global supply chains continue to evolve, the initiatives aim to support lifelong learning, inspire research‑driven solutions and nurture the next generation of industry leaders.
