UAE Cabinet approves first electric cargo plane

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently made headlines with its innovative approach to sustainable transportation.

In a landmark move, the country has issued a license for the operation of an all-electric cargo plane, marking a significant step forward in the fight against climate change.

The plane in question is the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, which has been retrofitted with an all-electric propulsion system.

The project was a joint effort between Dubai-based carrier, Emirates SkyCargo, and the engineering firm, BAE Systems.

The plane is equipped with a 750-horsepower electric motor that is powered by a 1-megawatt battery system.

The battery can provide enough power for the plane to fly for up to 100 miles, making it perfect for short-haul cargo flights.

This new development in the UAE’s aviation industry is a significant step towards achieving the country’s goal of reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2050.

The use of electric planes can significantly reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by the aviation sector. The sector has been under increased scrutiny in recent years due to its contribution to global carbon emissions.
