My Freighter, the Uzbekistan-based cargo airline, has officially launched a new freight route connecting Zhengzhou Airport (CGO) in China to Liège Airport (LGG) in Belgium. The service, which will operate four times a week using Boeing 767-300 freighters, aims to enhance the logistics link between China and Europe via Uzbekistan.
In a statement on LinkedIn, My Freighter expressed enthusiasm about the new route, highlighting its significance in bolstering supply chains for essential cargo. “This new service strengthens our China-Europe connection, facilitating the transport of vital goods across continents,” the airline stated.
This latest addition builds on My Freighter’s ongoing efforts to expand its cargo operations between Asia—particularly China—and Europe and the United States. Earlier this year, in April, the airline received authorization to operate flights to and from Mainland China, subsequently launching services to Shanghai and Ezhou in July.
Summer also marked a notable partnership for My Freighter as it established an interline agreement with American Airlines. This collaboration allows both carriers to utilize each other’s cargo networks across North America, the EU, and Central Asia. Additionally, in June, My Freighter formed a similar partnership with Air Europa, enabling both airlines to expand their reach in their respective regions.
To support its growing operations, My Freighter signed an agreement in July to expand its fleet of leased Boeing 767-300 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) aircraft to five. The fifth aircraft arrived at the airline’s hub in Tashkent later that month.
My Freighter specializes in cargo air charter services throughout Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region, focusing on various verticals, including dangerous goods, perishables, and logistics certification. While primarily a cargo airline, it also operates passenger flights under the brand ‘Centrum Air.’
Growing demand
Air cargo is seeing an 8.1% growth rate this year. Last year the air cargo market reached $57.21 billion; this year, it is anticipated to reach $61.82 billion. The industry expects to see a 7.2% growth rate for the foreseeable future. By 2026 the market is expected to exceed $81 billion. My Freighter is looking to secure a large portion of this growing market. For the past decade, e-commerce has expanded exponentially. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, it skyrocketed, leading to a massive demand for air cargo.
An analysis of the trends makes clear that Uzbekistan’s air freight market will grow exponentially over the next five years. This is due to the rise of e-commerce, recent shifts in global supply chains, and geopolitical developments impacting road and rail freight.
Uzbekistan has a unique potential to become a major air transport hub not only for Central Asia, but also for beyond,” The airline currently operates a fleet of 5 Boeing 767 freighters. Additionally, the fleet includes 2 Airbus A321neos and 3 Airbus A320s, with one Airbus A320 parked and one on order. The Airbus A321neos and A320s belong to Centrum Air, which offers charter flights and passenger services as part of the My Freighter group, according to data by Planespotters.net.
