Under the UN agency vaccination program Volga-Dnepr Group and Scan Global Logistics collaborated and worked together to deliver 180 cbm of vaccines and medical supplies to Turkmenistan. The cargo contained vital Diphteria/Hepatitis and BCG vaccine doses as well as clinical/medical supplies. Amid COVID-19 pandemic the ongoing immunization programs have become particularly important.
Two Volga-Dnepr Group charter flights were organised from Leipzig airport in Germany during August/September, with the critical supplies being consigned to the Turkmenistan Government.
Volga-Dnepr was able to demonstrate their “Cargo Supermarket” diverse fleet offering to the market since the two flights were operated on two different aircraft types IL-76TD-90VD and B 737-400SF. The IL-76 was operated by Volga-Dnepr Airlines and the B737F was operated by ATRAN Airlines, both carriers belonging to Volga-Dnepr Group.
Detailed preparations were made for the loading of these two aircraft, including the instruction for night-time loading of the flights and special cargo preparation to consider the temperature control requirements of some of the cargo. Careful load-plans were drawn up by the load engineers of Volga-Dnepr and ATRAN, in conjunction with Scan Global Logistic team and the GHA in Leipzig.
The consolidated cargo was delivered from all parts of Europe to Leipzig airport for the flight departures. Volga-Dnepr and Scan Global logistics were pleased to have been able to work with the cargo hub Leipzig and PortGround GHA facility for these important flights. Volga-Dnepr Group maintains a charter operational base at Leipzig airport and has a close working relationship with the airport authority to be able to offer customers wider flexibility of additional services for emergency and health shipments originating from Europe.
